iPhone 5 jumpy screen after latest IOS update?

My wife recently updated her iPhone 5 and after the update the touchsreen was not working properly. it would scroll when she was tapping or it would open a different app when touching the phone app, or even scroll when just passing a finger over the phone with ever touching it. None of this happend prior to the update and my phone has not had any of these issues after the same update. It appears to be an isolated but frustrating case.

Any ideas on what the issue is and how to solve?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.2, clear screen protector, TB case

Has the phone been turned off since doing the update? If so, you can try doing a hard reset by holding the home and sleep/wake button at the same time until you see an Apple logo. This will often reset issues like this. Lastly, you can backup to iTunes or iCloud and then restore the phone as new. Test the phone and if the problem has gone away, restore from your backup to get your data back. Hope this helps.

The jumpy screen issue has been around for quite awhile - check when I started this thread... I along with everyone else is searching for a solution to this issue that doesn't involve workarounds or hard resets of the phone. If you read back through this thread, you will see that the 'jumpy screen' has propogated in several different scenarios. For example, how will leaving it on the charger help if the jumpy screen happens while the iPhone is in use - and further enhance this point, what is the solution when the jumpy screen happens while trying to answer a phone call or type a text. Since this device is deisgned to communicate in many various ways, the jumpy screen preventing the use of the iPhone is severely compromising the designed function.

If you can help in solving this issue, please do - enough time has past without answers.

I was simply pointing out one scenario that we know causes it and the closest thing to a solution that I've found for my particular form of the problem. You can't solve an issue or cure a problem if you don't gather at least a few causes of the issue or problem. For some, it could at least give them something to try in the mean time before Apple looks into this problem and solves it for good. If not using the phone while it's on the charger helps others gain back at least some functionality then I want them to know that. Since this is probably an internal issue, either with the inner parts and such of the phone or the programming itself, the least we can do is to find ways to restore a bit of normalcy to those affected by it. I want this problem solved as much as anyone here, but we must find the cause(s) of the problem and, in this case, the triggers of the problems as well if we can.
