MS office 2011 powerpoint freeze

Anyone have problems with Powerpoint 2011 (MS for MAC 2011) not responding to remote or keyboard advance of slides? This began about 2 months ago:When in Presenter View I'm unable to advance the slides/animate using any remote or even the keyboard. I can only do so by placing the cursor on the advance arrow on the slide.

I've tried this with several files, several projectors and the only common denomenator is that the presentation has been open for at least 20 minutes. When I trial it, first turn it on it works but not after that. Very frustrating and limiting as a professional speaker. I've been told it is an incompatibility issue between MS Office Powerpoint and my Macbook Air but that is not helpful. I've alerted MS and the one patch/update did not resolve it. I'm ready to purchase a small netbook: not what I want to do but have 10 presentations in the next month. Ideas? Suggestions?

MacBook Air, iOS 5.1.1

Sally,

There is another thread regarding this question. Look above your entries to find an entry by "BetterAlternative" to connect with that thread.

The folks over there seem to have identified the problem as being connected to an MS Update. Either MS Update #14.3.2 or the one after.

I just did the three page MS Office removal (not as bad as it sounds!) and then the re-install. I only allowed the 2012 MS Update and nothing for 2013. I don't have a second display, so I can't confirm that this works until my next presentation, but others have confirmed it seems to work...

Javaguy 39,

Sorry it took so long to reply, but I was waiting to test PowerPoint at a presentation with a second display to be sure that the "freeze" problem is gone.

I just did two full-day presentations with a second display and had no problems with my PowerPoint software.

I had previously fully removed PowerPoint (using the three page instructions...not as bad as it sounds) and then did a new re-install.

I have also installed the last two PPT updates recommended by Microsoft and my problem seems to have been resolved.

Hope this helps,

GS, I am fully updated on MS PPT updates (14.3.5) and OSX and I am still freezing. On Weds I was presenting on a single screen and the PPT frooze, I had to restart the machine.

I have tested fonts, all test fine, I have tested and addressed any disk permissions, and have removed extraneous slides in the master template. The sides are graphic heavy but I never had this isues on a PC. Some decks were and are over 30MB and the app freezes if I move an elements up with keys, and even when I add a couple of sentaces in a text object.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

javaguy39 & missusmccallum,

I think "missus" is right. You probably have to completely uninstall MS Office and then do a re-install. That is what I did. I think you have to completely remove the "evil" that one MS Update did to the program.

There is a link to another thread posted by "Better Alternative" earlier in this thread that leads you to a set of instructions (three pages) for a complete MS Office uninstall. Here is that link:

The only other issue might be that you are using an Air???
