iPhone 5 and Microsoft Sync Bluetooth (in Ford Vehicle)

I have an iPhone 5 that I am trying to pair and use with my Microsoft Sync Bluetooth that is built into my Ford vehicle. I am able to connect to my husband's Microsoft Sync (older version) in her Ford, but my iPhone won't work with my Bluetooth in my Ford. I am able to pair with my bluetooth (manually), but am unable to operate the iPhone (like play music) using the controls built into the steering wheel (like I am able to do when using my husband's bluetooth in her Ford). Also my iPhone does not connect automatically to the Bluetooth in the Ford when I get in the car everytime, on rare occassions it does, but for the vast majority of the time it does not, and I have to pair manually (again, my iPhone 5 does connect automatically to my husband's bluetooth when I get into his Ford). The only difference between the 2 Microsoft Sync Bluetooth's built into the Fords, is mine is a newer version, while my husband's is a couple years older.

Any troubleshooting suggestions? My iOS software is up to date. Maybe the bluetooth needs an update, though I have not heard of one? I have called the manufacturer, who said "it works how its going to work" (ha!). Does the issue lie with the bluetooth device in my Ford or with the iPhone?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have an idea that the answer to my problem is unlikely to be simple, judging by all the Ford owners here. Blue tooth synching to the hands free system in my Audi A4 involves pairing after which the system pulls numbers from the phone SIM. So I thought it would be with the iPhone 5 I just bought. But it seems I can't store my phone data on the SIM. Is that right? Can anyone advise a solution?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2012 Ford Escape with MS sync feature. Up until the new software update came out for Apple, my Bluetooth audio worked perfectly fine. All I had to do was say "Bluetooth Audio" and it automatically played my music through my vehicle. Also, I was able to seek through my songs with the seek option on my steering wheel.

Now I have everything except for that. However I can still listen to music from my IPhone 5 through my vehicle but I have to do everything manually. Doing this while driving is forbidden and a pain in the butt.

Does anyone have the same problem and a fix? I have deleted the devices and re-paired everything also I have done the mater reset option on my ford.

Thanks in advance...

Just registered and it says I'm running the latest up to date version of SYNC. Which is weird... It says "June 22, 2010." Seems like awhile ago to be "up to date."

Mine isn't as bad as some here, but my previous song and next song buttons only work some of the time. Pretty much the same thing Dobber95 above me said. I deleted my phone and made it the primary phone again and all was fine, then it stopped again. It just fluctuated on working/not working. No idea why. Everything was fine until I replaced my broken iPhone 5 with the exact same model a couple months ago. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Phone and car worked properly until Apple update on Ford Escape 2014. After that I updated the Sync driver in car and at least I can play music and use phone thru bluetooth again. However, I manually have to pick/dial a number or select the music file/station. If I say "call jim bob" it tells me to say name as it appears in phone book even though that is the way it is in the phone book. I guess techology is never perfect, namely the IOS7 roll out which has many bugs.

I have a 2010 Ford Focus. No issues pairing the iPhone 5s with Sync. However, I had trouble playing music via Bluetooth audio.

The phone was recognized and connected via bluetooth everytime I entered the car, made and received phone calls. But when attempting to access bluetooth audio the screen said "No Bluetooth Device". I updated the phone. Updated the car via the USB updates available from the ford website. Still no luck. Called the Sync company, did a "Master Reset", and still no sound would come through.

But there is a solution! Disconnected the negative cable from the battery for 5 minutes. Reconnected and then started the car, it was like a system reboot. Once I got in it paired automatically and there was music blasting everywhere from my iTunes.

Hope this helps!

The easiest way to get your iphone connected to your ford escape is very simple. go to menu, select sync, then press the menu button then ok, system setting, then ok,use the seek button to sellect advance then press ok,then seek for master reset, then press ok, you get a confirmation as confirm reset, then press okay to reset the system. then you can pair your phone and your microsoft sync and you good to go. I just did that through this simple steps i found on the owner.ford.com website and it connect perfectly well

Hi

I've just come in on this thread regarding the iPhone 5 not being able to auto connect to Ford Sync in their Ford Cars.

Well, my problem is similar but it's with my iPhone 6 + and my new Ford Fiesta with SYNC 1.1 + Applink.

I've paired my iPhone 6 to the cars system and the contacts have been uploaded to the car and my iPhone is shown on the cars settings but, when I lock the car and return when I next need to use the car, my iPhone 6 does not 'auto connect' to the car when I turn the ignition on and start the car so, I have to enter the 'settings' of the car and my iPhone 6 is shown and I then need to choose 'connect'.

I'm sure I've noticed that, although 'Bluetooth' is enabled for the car, when I start the engine, it does not show on the cars display.

I have had two previous Fiesta cars (2010 and 2013) and my iPhone 5 and 5S 'auto connected' to both cars and, when I upgraded to the iPhone 6 + last November, that worked fine and 'auto connected' every time I entered my car but, with the new 2015 Fiesta with SYNC 1.1 + Applink, my iPhone 6 + will not 'auto connect' to the car when I re-enter it?

I'm using the latest version of iOS (8.1.3) on my iPhone 6 +, has any other member had this problem and if so, can they please advise?
