Slow performance? 2.16 ghz 1.5 gb ram, 10.6.

Hello

before I upgrade the ram, I just want to make sure that is the problem. Its an old 2.16 ghz powerbook that just had a clean install of 10.6. Currently running with 1.5 gb ram. It slows down the further I go from a restart and takes for ever to view photos.

I read the maxium I would be able to install is 3 gbs so I was also curious if I would notice that big of difference.

I need this until I get a newer mac pro so I would love to pick up some performance.

Yes, indeed, if you can double the RAM to 3 GB's total that would definitely help speed things up.

Exactly what model Mac do you have? I cannot locate any one based on the information you have provided. I just would like to determine if you can actually increase RAM to 3 GB.

The correct RAM for a mid 2007 13"MacBook is: 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM and the maximum is 3 GB. I suggest OWC or Crucial as the best sources for Mac compatible RAM.

Hi,

I have the same Macbook as yours and I installed 2 x 2 gb 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM as recommended as I read that it does help to have a matched pair of memory chips.

I also read that it will actually make use of a bit more than 3 gb.

It works great so I am now thinking of upgrading to Lion.
