Thank you for the reply. I've used Parallels before, but not the others, so I was curious if you could add anything about them.

As yes, VMWare Fusion, that comment was over a year ago, when I first discovered that Apple then reduced the price of Snow Leopard Server by 95% to $20! I wanted to communicate that information as widely as possible.
I recommenced limiting my comments to its installation in Parallels, since that is where I have my experience.
Thanks for the help on getting the 10.6 server running on the VMWare. I now have my 10+ year old Macromedia Dreamweaver running on Mavericks!
Regarding the caution on upgrading the current 10.6 Mac Mini server to 10.9 server. If I upgraded to 10.9 server could I not restore the previous Snow Leopard configuration using a Timemachine backup?

Yes: Restore your Snow Leopard, then partition and install Mavericks in the new partition.
