Can't transfer photos from iPhone to PC?

Hi,

I'm trying to transfer some photos from my iphone 5 to my windows 7 PC; I haven't done this before.

I've tried two methods of doing this, but neither seem to be working!

method 1 - plug in iphone to pc. I get the autoplay come up. I click import photos. But I get a message saying something like 'no new photos found', so nothing happens. (remember, I haven't backed up my photos before, so all my photos should be 'new'!)

method 2 - I plug the iphone into the pc. And i go to computer > view devices and i open 'apple iphone'. then there's a DCIM folder (which should contain the photos, I'm guessing, because that's how i view photos from my normal camera). But the DCIM folder is empty.

Could someone please help me out? I have done my best to search how to do this, but noone else seems to have had this problem but me!

Thanks in advance.

You can transfer your iPhone photo to PC without sync.

As we know, it is easy to get photo onto an iPhone with the help of iTunes, but if you want to transfer your iPhone photos to PC with iTunes, you may be careful because you will sync your data.

You can follow: In the left directory tree of iPhone Transfer program, click "Photos" to bring up the photo management window. Choose the photo or folders which you want to export. Click "Export to". Then, a file browser window pops up. Choose a folder on your computer to save the exported photos or folders. Or, just drag and drop your wanted photos and folders to any place on your computer.

You don't transfer iphotos to itunes. Itunes is not a photo management program.Pics taken with iphone are imported to your computer as you would from any digital camera. Photos synced to your iphone from your computer are synced one way - computer to iphone. As they came from your computer in the first place, they should still be there, but you can use some third party app like: iStonsoft iPhone to computer transfer, Vibosoft iPhone transfer, Cool, or iPubsoft.

There are many apps works:

Vibosoft iPhone/iPad/iPod to computer transfer:

iStonsoft iPhone to computer transfer

and more...other, like: iPubsoft, isssoft, cucumody,

You may use Photo Gallery from Windows Lives on PC.

Or you may try to use iPhone Transfer to transfer them.

If you are using Mac, you can manually connect them via USB.

Or you can do it wirelessly on your iPhone by switch ON the Photo Stream under iCloud selection.

Also you can read the guide below

The above guide helped me to transfer photos.

There is another easy way to transfer photos from iPhone to computer by emailing:

  1. Tap Photos on iPhone.
  2. Find the photos that you want to transfer. Tap Albums, Shared, and Photos at the bottom of the interface to browse through your various photos.
  3. Select those photos you want to transfer.
4. Tap the Share button to open up your sharing options. Then choose Mail. And address the new e-mail to yourself and tap Send.

Just to add to this post, can someone clarify something else for me along these lines?

My son just returned from a trip to Paris with his mother, but when I asked him to let me connect his IPhone to my PC so I could transfer the pictures he took with the phone over so that I could work on them he balked, saying that once he connected to my PC he would lose 'everything' on the phone because of some on-board security feature that only allows the phone to be linked at any one time to a particular PC. He tried emailing me the pictures instead but they all arrived as 500k files - he either downgraded the phone's picture-taking quality at some point, or the phone isn't transferring them over at max size. Whatever, the easiest way to confirm all this is to just to connect the phone, access the folder, and move the pictures across using any of the methods outlined in this post. But like I said, the boy is freaking out that he'll lose everything on his phone. I see no mention of this in any of the posts. Can someone please clarify?

Thanks

As you probably now understand, using iTunes to sync photos to a phone is designed in a way that the originals should always remain on the computer; i.e., the phone is not meant to be a backup for the computer. You can use 3rd party software to copy them from the phone back to the computer but the ones not originally taken on the phone are likely to be lower resolution than the originals. Following is one 3rd party software that claims to transfer iTunes synced photos. There may be others.http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/features_photo.php
