iPhoto crashes when creating a new slide show

iPhoto immediately crashes, when I try to create a new slide show.

I have already tried to create a completely new library, but happens just the same: I want to create a new slide show (with only some pictures), and then the program crashes and I must kill it via "force quit".

I also de-installed iPhoto and then installed it again. No change at all. The program chrashes when I try to create a new slide show.

Any idea what could help?

TD makes a good point. If all you need is an external hard drive a Time Capsule is not the best choice as you're also paying for a wireless Wi Fi station. If you don't need a Wi Fi station get an external FW hard drive from a 3rd party retailer like one of these for example: OWC Mercury Elite Pro USB 3.0/2.0, FireWire 800/400, eSATA External Hard Drives. More bang for your buck.

The NAS is a file server with it's own format and OS. An external HDs like those I linked to are just that, hard drives that you can connect to your Mac via FW or USB.

Once you obtain an EHD make sure it's formatted OS X Extended (journaled) with ownership set to be ignored.

If you need an iPhoto Library when you're not connected to the EHD have a smaller "traveling" library with just the photos needed. Any new imports into the traveling library can be transferred to the EHD library with the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager which will include keywords, titles, descriptions, places, etc.
