iTunes Match error on some songs

Recently (within the past 4 weeks or so) I have had issues getting iTunes Match to upload/match about 10-20% of the songs I've added to iTunes. My issue is similar to that desribed in this thread (I'm getting the little cloud with the exclamation point next to the troublesome songs), except all the songs in my iTunes library are in Apple lossless format (ripped from CDs), and so as a solution I tried to convert them to AIFF format and then back to Apple lossless. This, however, is not working.

What's going on here? Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

Same problem, I think.

Added a bunch of stuff to iTunes—a mix of mp3 and ALAC. All mp3 stuff matched or uploaded. Some ALAC stuff matched. The rest is perpetually waiting. Tried turning Match on and off, restarting iTunes, restarting the computer, and using iTunes to "transcode" ALAC files I to new ALAC files, and the same tracks are still waiting.

Tried removing the tracks and re-adding in small batches. The same tracks consistently work, or fail to work.

Must be a server issue, given that its the same songs consistently causing problems. Glad it's not just me. Now I'll quit wasting time trying to troubleshoot this.

Good to know.

Given that the tracks seem to be consistent for a given user, I wonder if they're consistent between users? Among other things, I'm having trouble with about a third of the Band's "The Last Waltz", from the 2003 CD version... A reasonably common album (but perhaps an edition of it that's dfferent from the one available in iTunes).

I only started seeing this problem with files added 3/18 or later, and of the big batch of stuff I added, it's only older material that seems to be causing a problem (possibly because it's material that didn't match and needs to be uploaded?).

So the concensus seems to be: the problem is specific to the ALAC format, and 2) it is a server-side problem.

Not that this isn't frustrating or that I wish it upon anyone else, but it's good to know that a) it is a new problem, which suggests that a solution is possible, and b) I'm not the only person with the problem, which means I'm not crazy.

At this point I'm gonna leave the tracks in their current ALAC format in iTunes and keep waiting. If Apple doesn't fix this in a week or two, hopefully I'll have time to contact support...

I'm having the same exact issue. There is definitely either an iTunes bug or server-side issue with this, as my experience shows:

  • Started about a month ago with maybe 10% of the tracks failing
  • Now increased to the point where most tracks are failing
  • I only use ALAC
  • Happens with tracks that need to be uploaded, not matched
  • iCloud status icon varies between "Waiting" and "Error"
  • Detatching iTunes from Match, signing out, signing back in, running Match again doesn't work. Removing and adding the tracks again also doesn't work.

I'll also add that I watched the Match process run, and the failure happens at the upload step. iTunes successfully scans all tracks, and then gets to "Uploading xx out of 200". The progress bar goes very quickly (2-3 seconds to run through 200+ tracks) and then Match reports successful completion.

Is anyone aware of a way to have the issue escalated to Apple engineering beyond just posting in this thread? Since we pay a subscription fee to Match, I'd like to see this resolved ASAP. As a software professional myself, I'm happy to provide any more detailed feedback/logs that would help resolve the issue, or participate in testing a solution.

I opened an iTunes Store ticket, as I am having issues with something I purchased from the iTunes Store. The email I received was boilerplate. I spent about an hour on the phone a week ago before getting disconnected. They say they haven't heard of the issue. I referred them to three different discussions in the support communities. I really don't have the time or patience to call back in and start from scratch. I'm hoping this will get resolved soon.

I just started ripping from CDs and uploading iTunes Match yesterday, and experienced my 1st instance of the extensively discussed Match sync problem today. I initiated an Apple support call via the Apple Web site. As with support staff on "photocopy's" call, the support staff on my call seemed to be ignorant of the problem. Like "photocopy", I was disconnected after enduring a long phone support session (37 minutes in my case). I was disconnected while on hold and after having to provide my iPhone's serial number 3 separate times.

I'll be darned...With over 2.5 hours having elapsed since I originally identified the problem, and after attempting several different methods to solve it, the dashed cloud has disappeared from the affected track in iTunes on my PC, and the track is now both visible and accessible from my iPhone's Music app. I plan to post a solution if the problem occurs on another track and I actually isolate what (if any) of my methods solved the problem.
