Is the Midi to USB cable, class compliant? (Does it need drivers for it to work?)
If it doesn't need drivers then it should appear automatically in Logic... and if it doesn't which cable is it as there are some that are known to have problems with Macs...
If it needs drivers then make sure you install the correct version of the driver for your OS X version... If it came with a disk.. Maybe the drivers on the disk are out of date and need updating first...
This is the cable:

I just got the cheapest option to be honest as I only wanted to use the korg as a controller.
As you will see from the reviews there, some people could not get it working with OS X I am afraid to say...
So, maybe you got a 'bad one'.....
As it doesn't use drivers it should just work... so,
Does the cable appear under the midi section of the Audio /Midi Setup app in your applications folder (Inside either the Utilities or Other folders..)?
If you haven't used the Audio Midi setup app befroe you have to go to Window in the Audio/Midi Setup menu bar and select 'Show Midi' and see if the cable appears there.
If it doesn't then my guess is, its the cable..
If it is there then it should also appear in Logic....
Ok so i'm in the Midi window of the Audio/Midi set up app and it has three things in in. "IAC Driver", "Network" and "USB2.0-MIDI" which I presume is what i'm looking for, where do I go from here?
make sure you have the midi cable plugged in to the Midi Out of your keyboard
Then, in Logic...
Open an empty project
Create a software instrument track
Add a software instrument to that software instrument track
Select that track
Play notes on your keyboard and listen to the output of Logic and you should hear notes coming from the software instrument you choose
Also, If you look at the transport bar of Logic you should see the midi note data shwoing up in there as you press keys on your keyboard.
If you see notes but don't hear them, let us know..
If you don't see or hear anything, go back to the Audio Midi setup app and double click on the USB2.0-Midi icon and make sure the checkbox next to "Device is online' is checked.. then test again..
I have done all of this and still nothing, the In cable is plugged into the midi in port and the out is plugged into the midi out port.
The checkbox is also checked.
Try reversing the cables... plugging out to in and in to out..
Nope, still nothing.
Okay, carefully read page 49 of the Microkorg's manual...
Set Midi channel to Channel 1
Turn Local off..
Set Global position to Post KBD (PoS)
Also, to test Logic itself...
Select the Software Instrument track that you created and added a software instrument to...
Press the Caps Lock key on your Computer's keyboard
Now press keys on the Computer keyboard (Not your Microkorg) and see if you hear sounds from the Software plugin you are using..
Ok, I restarted the microkorg and changed only those three settings and still nothing.

This is backwards, the USB Cable's MIDI IN plug goes to the Korg's MIDI OUT port. That's all you need don't even bother to plug the other side of the cable in. Simplify as much as possible to troubleshoot.
Unplug the USB MIDI cable from the Mac, reboot the computer, wait a minute, plug the USB cable in wait another minute, open Logic press keys on the keyboard, do you see activity in Logic's transport.... like note names showing when you press the keys.
Ok i've taken all these steps and it still doesn't work. The capslock keyboard works fine as well.
