Your disk could not be partitioned. Win7 Bootcamp

I'm attempting to load Win7 on MBPr with Bootcamp 5.0 and am getting the error "Your disk could not be partitioned. An error occurred while partitioning disk." No other information leads me to understand the problem. Does anyone know anything about this error and how to fix? User uploaded file

Hi there. I am getting the same error when Bootcamp tries to partition. My Mac has a single partition as Mac Extended Journaled, I am partitioning Windows as 30GB leaving 100GB free on my MacOSX. I seem to be folowing all of the steps and I am using a Legal Windows 7 install Disc with 64-Bit software. My Mac is i5 64-Bit. I am at a loss. Can anyone help?

I had this problem today. It turns out there was an a small issue with the directories on the disk which was easily resolved. To see if you have the same problem as me, try the following.

  1. Perform a full backup, just in case
  2. Launch "Disk Utility" (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility)
  3. In the left-hand panel, click on your hard drive
  4. Click "Verify Disk"
  5. If there are any errors reported, then you may have the same problem as me (I had a directory count which was wrong).
  6. If there are any errors, try clicking "Repair Disk".
  7. If repair worked successfully, try re-running Boot Camp Assistant

If for any reason the repair option didn't work, here's another way to repair the disk .This is the technique which I used. It's a bit more 'technical', but quite easy. You can see the original artical on OSX Daily:

  1. Reboot the Mac into Single User Mode by holding Command+S during boot. You'll see lots of black and white text. Don't panic.
  2. At the command prompt, type: "/sbin/fsck -fy" (without the quotes)
  3. Wait while the disk is checked and repaired
  4. When fsck is complete, type “exit” or “reboot” to reboot
  5. Boot the Mac as usual, verify the disk again in Disk Utility.
  6. Run Boot Camp.

Hopefully this helps others, and will prevent costly visits to your local computer shop!

I am having this same issue, however disc errors do not appear to be the problem. I've verified, repaired, all to no avail. All I get is "this disc can not be partitioned".

Appreciate any insight or help.

I have an appointment with One on One tonight, but they've already told me that they can't help with Windows. I'm hoping they can at least help me with bootcamp, since it's an Apple thing. As is the partitioning.
