Sure. It's now 3.30 in the afternoon so it's been up and running for exactly 9 hours and I have 61% battery.

• Usage = 3 hours, 57 minutes
• Standby = 13 hours, 48 minutes

Sorry I didn't think to make a note of these prior to restoring. I've downloaded and reinstalled 10 apps so far (FB, Skype, LinkedIn, Youtube, BBC News app, BBC Sports app, Google Maps, MyFitnessPal and Sports Tracker) and I'm feeling fairly confident that this approach might have done the trick.

I'll check the battery level and usage setting tonight before powering down and putting it on charge and post an update tomorrow.

How did you add your applications and stuff? I tried the whole restore as new iPhone route but nothing. I'm still barely able to get 2 hours of usage on my iphone 4s.

I've heard people claim that adding your applications via WiFi instead of 3g solves the battery drain.

Strange! Updating to 6.1.4 made absolutley no difference to my battery draining issue whatsoever. My understanding is that 6.1.4 was a very small (11MB) update designed to enhance speaker phone quality. It just goes to show that while it's only a relatively small number of devices affected after upgrading to 6.1.3, there is no identifiable common denominator. No wonder Apple are strugglingto come to terms with it.

Hard resets don't do anything for the battery. Useless info. Plus I've heard that a hundred times. No ones battery is gonna get better until Apple comes out with a new update(ios7) end of story.....I didn't know we couldn't talk about anything else but battery drain issues! This forum is the same, page after page. Thanks to a lot people who never inform Apple of the issue we are stuck with 6.1.3. Try calling Apple first, report the problem so Apple can fix it. Keep posting fix it yourself doesn't work! Maybe for a few, but the rest of us are stuck bringing our chargers with us.

Sure you can post things that relate to battery life since the title of this thread is "iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage" but many of your posts are off-topic. Posts such as "Tim Cook might be replaced," "Apple stops replacements and to start on site repairs," etc.

As for my post on a DIFFERENT thread, I did say that I was CONSIDERING selling my iPhone in favor of an Android only if my battery problem persisted. Which it did not.

Hard resets don't directly affect the battery, but they do "refresh" the phone similar to sleeping every night. Hard resets are the same as rebooting/restarting the device, just as a "do this if reboots/restarts cannot be done" (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430) "Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it." Now yes I did hard reset when I could have just rebooted/restarted, but it was my decision to do what I felt like doing.

My battery life got better updating from iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 6.1.4. So your statement "No ones battery is gonna get better until Apple comes out with a new update(ios7) end of story..." isn't true. My battery life did get better and I have proof.

Me not understanding your post? You can't even grasp that this is a USER-TO-USER TECHNICAL SUPPORT forum where user (a) has a problem, user (b) helps troubleshoot, user (c) also contributes to on-topic troubleshooting advice, as does user (d), user (e), etc. with good results in the end. You on the other hand, are not contributing to the "iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage" thread, just posing rumors (or they could be completely factual), but off-topic reports that do not help other users solve their issues. Your off-topic posts are simply cluttering up a thread where others ARE trying to solve the issue or provide insight as to what they can do to go about solving their problem. I admit right now I am posting off-topic, but I am keeping it in one reply instead of replying to myself and adding 2+ unnecessary extra posts. DOES ANYBODY ELSE UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY?

Well I'm a little, or in fact very jealous of those who've managed to somehow cure their drain problem. Having already been down the wipe and setup as new phone route (giving me a week or so of success) and having hard reset and killed all running apps following the drain reappearing (giving me about two days of success). I'm now back to a pocket-warming, data-consuming brick which needs charging 2-3 times a day and I daren't use in case it doesn't make it to the next charging cycle.

I have a few quick questions for those who've had some success with a complete wipe and setup as new phone:

1. Do you have iCloud syncing between multiple devices i.e. to OSX and iPad etc...?
2. Do you use the Notes app, especially with iCloud sync?
3. Do you use Safari's reading list function?

Desparately trying to find a repeatable process that means I can properly report to Apple, rather than just a stroppy email to Tim Cook.

For the record I'm into day 7 sine the factory restore. My iPhone 5 came off overnight charge at 07:00 this morning. After just over 9 hours I currently have 63% battery remaining (4% per hour):

• Blue tooth enabled
• Sending and receiving Outlook Exchange and Hotmail emails
• 24 minute outbound phone call
• Connected to office WiFi

Current usage data:

Usage: 7 hours, 49 minutes

Standby 1 Day, 1 hour

Bumping thread. I restored my phone, and things were ok for a couple of days before getting back to awful battery life.

Apple, this *****. How could this slip past your QA? If you are going to brag about your battery life, you actually need to test it.

It may be a tricky fix, but an official acknowledgement of the problem will do a lot to restore goodwill in your company.

yes, my resetting appears to help 'occasionally' but does not fully fix the problem... today, I went from 15% to power-off recharge mode in 10 minutes.

My 4s is 14 months old, and when location services are off, it appears to be pretty good (8+ hours of web and phone use). However, this is too flaky to live with/depend on when going into meeting with less than 50% charge.

Glad to hear that you have solved this issue. But I think this 6.1.3 update is a gigant mess, and that there maybe more then one way out of it. I have seen a Iphone 5, drain 1% every 3 minutes without *any* apps, installed or mail accounts setup. Only a wifi connection was setup.Before the 6.1.3 update, the terminal was running smoothly.

If this faulty update reqruires that everybody has to do all what you have done, Then I won´t be out of job for a long time. But the job will be booooooring. In the company I work, I have seen at least 10 terminals with this error, out of 20.

I have read just about all these posts now i think the problem is with the new baseband/modem firmwear thay upgraded to witch seems that its usen way more power to pull a signal ect ect witch would explain why no body has been able to identify the drain issue...& you will never get a staight answer from apple you will always get fobed off there customer relations is the worst they just refuse to admit any issues what so ever just lie there faces off every single time theres a problem & refuse to admit responsibility while we are sat with 500 pound phones that dont work as they should & as your lead to believe they just told my frend in store they wanted 64.99 to change the battery in his phone something i did for him at the miner cost of 5.00 so there charging people & making 60.00 time for not even tens mins its like 4 screws you have to remove to get your battery out & put new one in thats on 4 4s & 5 utter con 60.00 to remove 4 screws & then put them back in with new battery that costs 5 pound if apple warnt such idiots & just made a phone like evey one else with a removable back & battery most people would simply go buy a new battery & maby solve there issue sealed handsets are a stupied idea always have been always will be APPLE

iOS 6.1.3 is terrible on my iPhone 4. Before the update I could easily get two days of on time out of it with a few calls and texts, podcasts and music, YouTube and web surfing with Chrome.

I did a test today and with my iPhone fully charged at 100% and started browsing the web with Chrome using wifi. It went from 100% to 64% in just over 30 minutes.

I also did another test where I watched exactly 10 minutes of YouTube videos and it went from 63% to 52%. These results are horrible compared to what I was getting just a short while ago.

If you still have warranty on your device, bite the bullet and hand it in for repair. 3 of my co-workers have gotten their terminals swopped with this error.

Funny enough, by accident I found an interesting point.

Because of some travel issued I drained my iPhone down to 1%. But it lastet for over 5 hours of operation with this 1% power left. After this I tested it by purpuse, and yes it is reproducable... 4-5 hours medium work with the last 1% :-)

Can it be that only the calibration of the battery is the problem and the full remaining power is wrong ... ?

Can anyone else test this with his phone ... ?
