iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

If usage and standby times are the same there there is a process thats running all the time. If you have not installed any apps and only have the defaults then you can try a DFU restore (google it) or take it to Apple store for diagnostic. Some process is running but from what you wrote there is nothing left. Typically that issue indicates email, iCloud, or calendar something like that hung up and running constantly.

I was having the battery drain issue after upgrading to 6.1.3, but I restored my phone and it seemed to be working ok. This past weekend I noticied that the battery seemed to be draining more quickly again. This morning I noticed that my battery said 97% and I hadn't used the phone yet and it had been on stand-by for 1 hour. I then looked at Sys manager app and it said my battery was 100%. So I rebooted my phone and now it says 100% too. Yesterday, I also noticed that my phone was at 83%, I did a hard reset and then it read 89%. Could we just not be getting the true readings of the battery and that they really aren't draining as quickly as it seems?? Really confusing!

What I have seen is in the mornings the device may not be at 100% even tho its on the charger. Maybe 97% or so. Sometimes it shows 100% then as soon as I unplug it it drops to 97%. That is by design as I understand. It will stop charging and drop to 95% or so before the charge starts back up. Anyway that little bit of drain overnight was most likely just standby time drain (.05 per hr) when the charging circuit cycled off. I would unplug an replug in the morning just before showering and getting ready for work and it would bump it back to 100%

What I have figured out and works 100% of the time is at night I will turn off the phone, then plug in charger and let it come back on by itself. Never enter the passcode. Then in the morning its always at 100% and stays that way for several hours (if not used a lot). I also always close all open apps at the end of the day just for good measure before I power it off (as mentioned above). I have tried just closing apps and not power off and still had the 97% in the morning. So the power off seems to be what helps. Not real sure why that works but it does and I always start the day with 100%.

Hey guys,

Thought that update will come later but it's already here. Today I started iCloud sync. The battery loss rate increased rapidly. Almost 1% each 10 minutes. During the calls even more. Seems like the problem with sync settings while using 3g or edge data. I also found out that rebooting phone once a day is a good option for decreasing battery loss rate. Hope next iOS update will be soon and fix the problem.

IT's not for you Timurjonchik:

Dear APPLE Support/Development Team:

I'm actually wondering if someone from Apple is reading this post as it goes on now for more than a month. Under normal business conditions and SLA's (Service Level Agreements) this is unacceptable. I'm still hoping you get this resolved very soon and it would be great if you could provide any feedback how long it will take you to provide the fix.

I met a buddy today who also has an iPhone5 and ios 6.1.3. He had 7 hours of usage, 1 day of standby logged and 65% battery life remaining. I'm unsure of how old the phone was but that works out to roughly 1.6% loss of battery per hour of usage, assuming 1% loss per hour of standby. Compared to my phone, that is stellar.

1 day = 24 hours, so 100% -24% = 76%, then the 7 hours of usage devided by 76%-65%= 11%/7 hours = 1.6% per hour usage.

My average battery usage was 1% per standby hour, and 10% per hour of normal usage!. That means everything from surfing the web, checking email, phone calls, or just looking at the screen. I would get anywhere from 4-6 hours of solid usage out of the phone and thats it.

When I first got the phone, I had a wicked battery drain after restoring it from an Iphone 4 backup. I did a DFU restore and it was purring like a kitten till the IOS 6.1.3 update.

I bit the bullet again, and just finished another DFU restore. I've restored my email/sync accounts as they were, and will be manually redownloading my apps, not restoring them from Itunes/Icloud backup. On the plus side I have lots of free space again for pics/movies. I'll update here with the results as soon as I can figure out how well (or not well) this worked.

Cheers

'cell network search' is only needed if you are in an area where you will be roaming on another carriers signal. Other than that leaving it off should have no impact.

Unfortunately I always have had all those settings turned off, both before and after 6.1.3 and I still had the battery drainage issue. The biggest improvement for me came from turning off iCloud Docs & Data and going to Settings > mail, contacts, calendars > Fetch new data (off) > scroll down to 'Advanced' > set all mail accounts to 'manual'

It appears this new settings option added with 6.1.3, 'advanced', was set to 'fetch' by default during the update which caused my mail to continue checking for new messages in the backround even though the 'old' settings had stayed set to 'manual' (fetch 'off') for checking for new messages.

I had huge battery drain issues. I logged out of Chrome browser and turned off sync and as if by magic, my battery life doubled.

It's been fine ever since but then today I needed some stuff from Chrome on my mac, turned on sync and logged in to my Google account. And suddenly boom, my battery turned to ****. Today my battery has died twice as fast as usual and the only thing I've changed is logging in to my Google account and turning sync on.

If you've got chrome installed and having battery issues, please try logging out of your google account and turning off sync.

It would be worth rebooting once you've done it.

Whether its chrome or not, I would be willing to bet a lot of money that most people's issues are revolving around syncing.
