iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

Tonight I've done a possibly stupid thing. I was on 6.1.2, with JB, and getting horrendous battery life. I would lose 1% every 15 minutes whilst the phone was sleeping, with wifi, 3G and location turned off.

So, I took the big step of updating to 6.1.3 and I'm waiting to see if I notice any difference. If not, my iPhone 5 is less than 2 weeks old so I'll be making a trip back to the Apple store to replace it.

I agree. There is a virus. It's called iOS 6.1.2 & 6.1.3.

iOS is reporting the wrong battery %. Plain and simple. It will shut down at 1% or 5% or 10 or 15%.

This morning. Woke up. 100% full charge. Used for 5min exactly. Down to 98%. Restarted the phone. Comes back at 100%.

Few days ago I reset all settings. Worked great for about 4 days. Now back to the same issue.

If I restore the entire thing and not include iCloud or Mail or whatever you guys are talking about. Guess what? Works great. For about 4 or 5 days then after a few charges. Back to the same problem.

A friend's iPhone 5 is shutting down at 4%. It goes down from 10% to 4%.

I'm getting 4 hours usage on a good day. iPhone 5's getting 5 hours.

The problem is iOS. iOS 6.0 was working fine. I could get 6 hrs and 30 minutes usage on this phone. Same phone. Update. 4 hours.

You tell me this is some virus/rogue app? Boloney. It's iOS 6.1.X. It *****.

Reporting wrong battery life (and no. It doesn't stay at 1% for an hour. It just dies).

It says its 100% when it isn't 100%. It is totally unstable.

Then the Apple fanboys say the solution is to turn off all the features of the phone. So if you're an iPhone user your phone can't Push your mail, it can't use any location services, it can't have any Cloud services, and it can only use Cellular Data 3G or 4G ONLY when you want to go on the Internet. Otherwise you have to disconnect.

Ahahahahahaha!! And this is a fix? How about you just get rid of that crap and get a real phone?

I bought a Mophie case. That's the only way I'm getting through a day. iPhone 4S, soon to be my Wife's phone. I'm getting an S4.

Oh yes. I now have an iPhone 4S. For about a year and change. Why? Because the iPhone 4 was the worst phone ever made. I had a broken home button after 8 months. Guess what? Every single person I know who had an iPhone 4 ended up with a non working home button.

Went to fix it. Replaced the button. Then the front camera wouldn't work. Yes. Because when you open the phone a connection on the motherboard broke and the front camera would stop working. This is also an issue reported online. I had it too.

This 4s is a good phone. Then Apple comes and totally destroys it with updates. How long do they need?

If you go on Google and put "iPhone battery life" you will get things going back 5 years. Seems like every iPhone ever released had had a battery life problem at some point.

Apple. Will you EVER get the battery life on the iPhone right? You already restrict so many things claiming it saves battery life, yet here we all are. Having to schlep a charger everywhere we go because we can't get through a day. Unless of course we turn off every feature on the phone.

1-You ARE a fanboy. Listen to yourself.

2-Show us a picture of your crystal ball. I'd like to see the iPhone 7 when you're done looking at what the Galaxy S4 will do.

3- I can do whatever I want.

You haven't addressed anything other than attacks. Which makes you a super geek fanboy. Anyone who dates criticize apple gets attacked.

Everyone is having issues with the iPhone. All iPhones have had battery life issues. Also; turning off all the features to save battery life isn't a fix. It's just a fanboy thing to do.

Apr 27, 2013 5:21 PM in response to thai_iphone4

You come here and start attacking people, calling them fanboys because they're offering suggestions. Utter tosser.

And I've been using an S4 today. As it was released in the UK and the battery is no better. So I don't need a crystal ball.

Anyway, go troll another forum, while we try to figure out how to solve the issues.

Fwiw even with issues, the battery on my iphone is still better than my S3! Now with chrome sync off, ill likely get 8 hours usage. Vs 4 from my S3.

Yes. That's another issue showing that iOS 6.1.3 reports the wrong %.

It used to happen more often with 6.1.2 where, same as you, I would unplug it and it would drop, say from 100% to 98% and then I plug it in and it would jump back to 100%. If you tinker with it and reset it a few times you can get it to finally work.

Another issue I noticed, starting before 6.1.3 was that you could charge it all night long; it would show 100% but never show the plug like it was done charging. It would always show the icon like it was charging.

I haven't had that issue since I reset 6.1.3 several times.

It all started with shutting down at 15% or other weird times, 10 or 13% or 9%. Very bad with 6.1.2 and its all downhill from there.

The guy who was asking how they get the good battery life?

Some here are reporting unbelievable battery life like, I've been using the phone for 4 hours and I'm still at 90% or whatever ridiculous thing. Basically what they are = total Apple Freaks. They obsess about the phone all day. So what they do is; they're on WiFi most of the time. They turn off everything when they're not using it. Siri is off, iCloud is off, nothing pushes but, the thing is, they basically have their phones disconnected from the world most of the time only to connect to quickly check something and turn off Data again. IF and when they use Data. Mostly they're on WiFi. And everything off.

So they turn their $700 iPhone into a Nokia 1100 basically.

That guy reporting the awesome battery life. I could drain his phone completely in 4 hours. Give it to me and I'll show you. All ill do is turn on the features Apple sold us in the first place, put it on 3G, browse, watch YouTube and use the phone as humans use it.

I bet you anything it doesn't last more than 4-4:30 hrs.

Apr 27, 2013 5:32 PM in response to Realmaverick

You will never get 8 hours usage out of an iPhone unless you turn everything off and are on WiFi (turning it off and on all day).

You're lying dying you're using a Galaxy S4. All of a sudden you know and use all the phones. The post before you didn't know. You said "probably" now a few minutes later you're saying you've used it and know for sure. Yea right.

I'm not attacking anyone by calling them fanboys. They're apple Fanboys. That's not an insult. Not sure why you take it as an insult.

Attacking would be calling people names, like what was it you called me? "Muppet" and "dick head". Those are insults.

How old are you? 14 , 15?

Apr 27, 2013 6:08 PM in response to Realmaverick

8 hours usage on an iPhone 5. Aaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I know many people with iPhone 5's (one of them my sister in law), best she gets is 5hr 20min usage and then the phone dies. And that's just facebook. If she used it like me, 4:30 hours at best.

Quit lying.

This is about ios 6.1.3, not all the phone your have. Apparently you have them all.

Apr 27, 2013 6:11 PM in response to thai_iphone4

Notice, on my last post. If I had said "you can't get 7 hours out of an iPhone" he would've come back and said "I can get 7 hours out of my iphone". If I had said 10 hours he would've said 10 hours.

He will say he can get "x amount of hours" (whatever I say) and he'll say everything is on; he browses the Internet, plays games, watches videos, movies, all of the features turned on and STILL he gets 10 hours usage.

Then he will compare to all the other phones he has. If I talk about the HTC ONE, he'll say he has one and it *****.
