iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

Hi everybody. Im following this threat a long time ago, i have too an iphone 4s and i was getting battery draining and heat problems. I do not think it is useful to attack betwen us, if some comment is not useful just ignore it, that makes a good threat and post, good 😉

I want to share my experience, my battery start to last half a day with the same use that i was doing with ios 6.1.2 but now my phone dies some in half of the day and it need to be recharged.

Firts good thing i do was change push emails into fentch every hour. With that my phone do not become hot anymore but battery duration do not improve much. Then i turn off location settings and reset the phone. Now battery last a full day. Today i have turned off "netwok search" (setting, privacy, localization, system settings) and 12 hour after i have unplugged my phone i have 49% battery left4 hours 3 minutes using and 12 hours standby. My phone is not hot anymore and my batttery seems to be really ok this time. give it a try if you can

Excuse my bad english :-p Im from Argentina

If you read the entire thread, you'll see I've stated several times that I get 8 hours usage out of my phone when it's acting normally. I also refer to my S3 several times too. The S4 was released in the UK.

I'm not denying issues, otherwise I'd not be here right now. But mine seem exclusive to chrome and the logging in of my account and sync.

I recommend everybody testing logging out of chrome and turning of the sync option. It's amazing how much of an impact it has on my battery.

It seems there are lots of issues relating to syncing and battery. The last one was with exchange? Apple need to sort this out for those who haven't managed with the suggested fixes.

But yea. As you experienced; really the Push thing is irrelevant. Location services are off by default and I have no need for it so I keep it off.

The reason you saw a difference, IMO, as I said its because you did a Reset. A Reset will always make the software behave. Problem is, after a few days of recharges, it starts again.

Last thing that worked for me was doing "Reset All Settings". Now issue is back. 8:30Am and I'm already charging the phone. It's at 58%. It got to 50% after 2:20min usage about there.

Location off. Push is on because it just doesn't make any difference. I've already turned all that off and it doesn't matter.

I've restored as new.

I've done it all.

It's iOS. Period. The end.

I've deleted all my emails. Issue remains. Syncing doesn't matter. The battery mess caused by iOS is an iOS issue. If your Chrome was messing up your phone that's another thread. Call it "Chrome is crap" or whatever. This is about iOS 6.1.3 drain not Chrome drain.

I've never seen an iPhone 5 get 8 hours of full use. Ever. Ever ever. My sister in law gets 5:20hrs and that's awesome. If she uses it a lot maybe 4:30hrs. She doesn't have any emails set up. She basically just does Facebook.

IMO, You're lying. Maybe you get an Apple check.

The Galaxy S4. Doesn't matter that it came out in the UK. You want us to believe you own that one too. Ridiculous.

Apr 27, 2013 6:41 PM in response to thai_iphone4

No. I don't own it. I used it today in CPW for half an hour and the battery drained at a similar pace to my S3.

I've attached screenshots of my battery earlier in the thread showing over 8 hours usage. And I have nothing to gain by lying. I also attached pics of me getting 4 and slagged Apple off for it, as it drove me crazy.

It seems there are several different issues causing battery drain and I agree, it's a pain in the ***. But when you figure them out, it's more than capable of 8 hours usage. It was a full day standby too. (In the screenshot)

Not sure if this will work. Trying via my mobile to copy links from Dropbox. Both pics show screenshots of my battery life. I keep them to track the battery and note what I've changed etc.

Screenshots don't matter. I could plug my phone in to charge a few times a day for 20 minutes and give you a screenshot that says my iPhone 4S gets 2 days of usage.

Talk to the guys on this thread

Basically saying what I've seen with my own 2 eyes. That the iPhone 5 barely gets 5 hrs usage on a good day. Period. End of sentence.

You must be really awesome to be able to know the battery life of a device in 30 minutes.

But again, this is not about your iphone 5 or Android. This is about ios 6.1.3 battery drain and crazy battery information. It's an issue. It is real. It's ios. It is crap.

Now. We've already heard what you had to say. You're not contributing anything new. Maybe it's time to go outside the house. Interact with people.

Apr 27, 2013 7:01 PM in response to thai_iphone4

I totally agree. I've been a part of almost every battery issue thread and ranted about it.

I got so mad, I bought an S3, only to find once I'd downloaded apps etc it was even worse.

ATM, as long as chrome isn't signed in my battery is lasting 8 hours usage, as is my partners. Unless tomtom is on, that's a real juice drainer. But general browsing, gaming, calls, texts etc.

What concerns me, is how something seemingly insignificant like being logged in to chrome can half battery life.

Apple should give us detailed stats so we can see what's causing the drain. It would save is hours of wasted time trying to figure it out for ourselves.

I'm also disappointed how Apple have ignored this issue and failed to acknowledge it publically. That was actually what upset me enough to buy an S3.
