"this code must be redeemed on an iOS device" error in Configurator

Does anyone know what this means? I cannot seem to get this paid app (VPP codes downloaded and installed) to push to the Supervised devices. This is the only error I see in the process. Devices can be supervised just fine, it is just paid apps that are not working. iTunes account is authorized with the same account I am using on the iOS devices. App was purchased with a seperate VPP account but that is what Apple recommends. Ideas anyone? Is anyone using Configurator??

iPad, iOS 6.1.3, Client is on 10.8.3

I'm having the exact same problem myself. Have been happily using Apple Configurator to install paid for apps onto our iPads with the redemption codes for a few weeks now - today though its failed with "This code must be redeemed on an iOS device"?

I noticed that configurator picked up on the iOS update for iPads and installed this, however I've tested this on both old & new iOS devices and it still brings up the same error.

I thought it may have been that I updated iTunes last week, however I've been through the rigmarole of downgrade to 10.7 and this has made no difference.

@aesadmin was on iTunes 10.8.3 - but foolishly accepted the update to iTunes 11 earlier in the week... as i couldnt find much on this problem earlier i spent an age undoing the last update and rolled back to iTunes 10.7 (so im unsure if the version of iTunes is an issue on this one). Mac OS X is v10.7.5 running on a Mac Mini...

I've found this to be an issue on all my paid for apps, inc pages, keynote & numbers... Im testing with a .69p calculator app & movie player.

@CEF Systems I never suspected iTunes. Mmmmmmm... Everything was working fine a few weeks back. I will have to reach back in my memory and see if I can recall what version I was on. The thing is, I need a solution for the current versions of OS and iTunes. Rolling back is painful. Post if you have any more ideas. Do you know how to get official help from Apple "enterprise"?

@aesadmin when searching thru these forums for apple configurator issues & app not authorized threads the common feature appears to have been iTunes (mainly to do with the device not authorized) - however i'm beginning to think this is not related on this issue.

i've tried to deauthorise my mac, then reauthorize - no change.

i've tried to re-download the redemption code spreadsheet & reimport - no change.

even tried to just change the apple id password - no change.

after all the above failed, i did the longwinded itunes downgrade - no change.

@CEF Systems I will try the deauthorize iTunes/reauthorize iTunes. I have not done that yet. The thing is it worked a few weeks back on the same machine. I updated the OS X to 10.8.3 and iTunes to 11.0.2 (26) and had not touched Configurator until today and now it is broken. Please do let us know if you find any solutions or even ideas like the ones you listed above. Thanks so much.

Good morning.

I ran into this issue yesterday morning and called Apple support - it appears to be a system wide problem with redeeming VPP redemption codes in iTunes and Apple Configurator. Apple is aware of it and working on the problem, but as of yesterday afternoon, my support contact did not have an ETA..

The error message has changed from "This client does not support the App associated with this code" to the errror message you have noted, but it is still not working.

@odcstech is that downloading a paid for app using configurator, or direct redeem from itunes?

I've just manually typed a code from my redemption code spreadsheet into the redeem code option in iTunes and got the exact same "this code must be redeemed on an iOS device" error.

it makes me wonder if the codes that apple have generated this week are faulty? rather than it being an OS config issue? :-?
