"this code must be redeemed on an iOS device" error in Configurator

Does anyone know what this means? I cannot seem to get this paid app (VPP codes downloaded and installed) to push to the Supervised devices. This is the only error I see in the process. Devices can be supervised just fine, it is just paid apps that are not working. iTunes account is authorized with the same account I am using on the iOS devices. App was purchased with a seperate VPP account but that is what Apple recommends. Ideas anyone? Is anyone using Configurator??

iPad, iOS 6.1.3, Client is on 10.8.3

Configurator 1.2.1

iTunes 11.0.2

OSX 10.8.2

VPP codes can not be redeemed in either itunes or configurator.

Now, if you have codes in confiugrator that already have the check next to them but they are not assigned to a deivce, you'll be able to sync these as the codes are already redeemd, but when configurator tries to redeem an unused VPP code, this is where it fails.

So in summary... there is no correlation between hardware\software versions, itunes version, iOS versions... support seem to think it’s not the codes, but that there is a system issue somewhere?

I’ve had a careful look through what codes I’m trying to redeem via configurator. On a movie player app that we bought additional redemption codes for, I’ve totalled them up and noticed that I had spare codes unused from my previous round of purchases (80% used & all applied successfully last week). this batch of codes is therefore fine, but the final 5 codes are showing the same error as the newly purchased codes… which backs up the theory that it’s not the codes…

Which can only mean, after chasing our tales… the service\process within apples systems is not correctly processing codes?

Where’s the number for apple vpp support on the uk?

It seems most likely that its an issue with apples redeem system. The codes are fine, as they redeem without an issue on an actual device, its just when iTunes/Apple Configurator trys to redeem them they can't and already redeemed codes, in AC's database also work.

I guess we just have to wait for Apple to sort the issue out, hopefully they'll be working on it over the weekend and maybe we will have a fix by Monday.

Try 0800 316 0541 for VPP support in the UK, otherwise call your Apple rep and they should be able to get you through.

I've logged a ticket via the itunes store tech support, nice & helpful rep who whilst not really knowing what the issue was talked me thru creating a fault ticket with them so maybes just maybes it will end up with someone in apple who knows what they're talking about... watch this space...

I'll give that VPP support number a bell now and see if that's any good...

Hi,

If its any help to the other people here, via the VPP Support number in the UK, i have been given the following URL to log a ticket with the VPP Support guys direct :

https://ssl.apple.com/support/itunes/vpp/

Not sure if it will help if more people log the same fault perhaps to tell apple there is a wider issue here? The itunes support people from earlier merely directed me to the Apple Configurator KB which was of no use at all!!!
