Cannot send emails with my iCloud email address in Outlook for Mac 2011 and get error message 5.7.8

p06-smtp.mail.me.com as SMTP server has fixed the issue on our system (No a mail client, but a PBX System that send voicemails via. email). Just started having this issue Oct, 2nd, 2013.

Thank goodness, this finally worked, after 2 months of having this problem, very similar to the original thread, everything working fine then one day stopped sending outgoing Icloud emails

I've tried making the indicated change (p06-smtp.mail.me.com) and it is still not working for me to send via my iCloud/.mac address in Outlook for Mac 2011?!

Try this:

Outlook ---> Tools ----> Accounts

On your me.com account:

Outgoing Server ----> More Options... ----> Authentication ------> Choose: Username & Password

Username: your me.com email OMITTING THE "ME.COM"!!! e.g. forjohnsmith@me.com, just enter "johnsmith"

Password: your password

then see if that does the trick

Nope, still doesn't work. I've had this problem ever since the switch over to iCloud months ago. Everything worked fine until then. Still receive email fine, just can't send using the iCloud/.mac address in Outlook.

Ok I tried your "fix", still a NO GO

I'm still having issues on secured networks; the fix doesn't seem to work on those. So I use an alternative email address to send mails. Very frustrating.

I tell you how two fix it and it worked for me delete Outlook and setup Mac Mail use it for 2 weeks and you will get use to it! Mac Mail has al the bells and whistles and now I have done that managing my email is fantastic!

But can i add graphics to my signatures?

I followed the steps provided by IanHughes in his contribution to this thread made earlier last year. I was having the same problem until following the steps outlined here and now everything is working fine. I can send email using iCloud in Outlook 2011 for Mac.

As of last week sometime, the p06-smtp.mail.me.com trick no longer works. It kept giving me an authorization error. I finally went back to the normal smtp.mail.me.com in Outlook 2016 (and I tested it with Outlook 2011 as well) and it works like a charm.

I hope this helps someone as it was driving me crazy.

I had the same problem after updating to El Capitan. I fixed it by editing the outgoing mail server to read

smtp.mail.me.com

under advanced

port 587

Authentication : change this to PASSWORD in the drop down

Enter your full email address under user name

enter password

click ok

Worked for me after that
