What if i don't want to use internet explorer?

I have IE for Windows 8,but I would rather use my default browser Google to open my Apps that Itunes installed. The Apps automatically open IE and I don't see an option to choose a default browser for those apps.

(Icloud,Photo Stream,Find my Iphone,Contacts)

I understand and had same issue. There are defaults within IE which cannot be changed (e.g. URL rather than html page) notwithstanding it is not the default browser - hence it opens icloud when it is not the intended default. My solution was to go to control panel -> programs and features -> turn Windows Features on or off - and deselect Internet Explorer. If its not your default you don't really need it. You can install again in the future if ever needed.

Hi I recently ran into a similar thing on a Windows 7 PC. The latest update to itunes (11.1.4.62) changed the system default browser to IE, I normally use Firefox. This was resolved by go to Options in Firefox, selecting advanced, then the general tab.

Select the option, "make Firefox my default browser" and then ok, the panel should change to "Firefox is your default browser".

There are similar settings for other browsers, IE, Chrome etc.

hope this helps.

After reading all the misunderstandings and things tried I had to post something. I know this is an old post, but for anyone still interested in this I just figured it out. I don't use IE at all, so what I did was disable it through 'Programs & Features' > 'Turn Windows features on or off'. Uncheck Internet Explorer and reboot. All the iCloud shortcuts opened in the default browser (Chrome in my case). I had to sign in the first couple times, but then they signed right in and opened.

I hope this helps someone.

Hi Wudstock, when you open a shortcut, does the main iCloud.com page open in Chrome or the actual "app" you've selected?

I'm on Windows 8.1 and have disabled IE and have Chrome as the default browser, but for example when I click on "Contacts", Chrome opens icloud.com instead of https://www.icloud.com/#contacts. When I had IE installed, it opened straight to the page.

For those who are unclear on the problem, this isn't readily solved just by setting the browser default, as the shortcuts actually are sent through an icloud application in Windows before opening the browser. When you click the icon for "Contacts", this is what actually is run:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloudWeb.exe" contacts

I haven't yet found a config file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services directory that could change this behavior in Chrome.

My workaround right now is to just create a new shortcut to https://www.icloud.com/#contacts and change the icon. This skips iCloudWeb.exe application and opens Contacts straight in the browser.
