This is not a lack of attention or concern by Apple. It is the way that Apple has designed it to make it work. What is the issue exactly? Hiding the book accomplishes the same thing, and does not delete the purchase totally. If they did allow you to delete purchases permanently, we would have hundreds of threads with people complaining that Apple is just trying to make more money because they "accidentally" deleted a purchase, and now Apple won't reinstate it. This is how it works. It is not a bug, and it is not going to be resolved by a "simple software solution".

Once billed for the iBook log into your iTunes account and report it as a problem. To delete the book go into iBooks then tap the edit icon select the book then tap delete.

Your advice regarding settings provides me with a temporary workaround to partially accomplish what I want to do. Thanks.

Have the same problem. Figured out the settings part and it is satisfying enough for me.

When you say that you have selected "Hide" but they still show up, where are they still showing up?

What if it is hidden in my Mac cloud library but not my iPad or iPhone, how do i go about hiding it from all devices ? I still want to see my other cloud books just not one or two?

Remove it from your device....

In the Library, click on Select, select the book(s) you want removed from the device, click on Delete to remove them, click on Done.

What you have described is how you hide a purchase. The book you clicked the "x" on is not completely deleted. It is hidden.

And all we get is people telling us what a great big benefit it is for us and that it doesn't use space. Jeeeesh! We just want to get rid of it!

You can't, you can only hide items from the cloud. You can try using the feedback link that has been posted, but it's probably unlikely to change.
