How to remove books from iCloud permanently ?
iPad, iOS 6.1.3
"Apple does not allow the purchaser to delete any media that is purchased via iTunes, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store."
Not quite accurate...because I did this myself, which is why I did not offer "I'm not sure, but...", as I did in suggestion using iCloud.com. I was able to delete over 100 apps (not native apps) that I purchased and found I never used or didn't like. This earlier this year...April 2016, I believe. And upon selecting an app, right-clicking, and choosing "Delete"...the options were (not verbatim, but close):
I selected #3 and received a pop-up warning, "Are you sure you wish to permanently delete this item?" I clicked yes, and the item was no longer in my iTunes library, not even with a cloud symbol.
The rest of your comments are valid; the items I "permanently deleted" from my iTunes library were all apps. To this day, they are not found anywhere in my account purchase history. As for hiding content you don't want to see, this is a great option. But the issue was to get rid of content unwanted that is taking up space in the iCloud, so hiding is not a solution. Personally, I have not been able to find a working solution to this issue, despite eons of hours researching all imaginable, but reputable sites. And THIS is why I am so (to be kind) displeased with Apple, as well as Google and Microsoft (and others, to be sure). I'm SURE Apple included these conditions in its' 30-100 page Terms & Conditions notice/policy, but that still doesn't make it right or acceptable to restrict a user's rights (let's not say "constitutional rights") but individual, ethical and inherent rights to purchased and paid for content.
And I won't rant away, because honestly, there isn't a thing anyone can do about it without coming together as a whole to petition a demand to update their policies. I'm not complaining, don't misunderstand. I accept that it is what it is, and though I choose not to like it, and let it rile me at times, I continue to choose Apple products over Android, fully aware of the advantages and disadvantages.
I merely wanted to offer my experience and opinion as a means of support. Thank you for your response, and professional attitude.
Regards,
Renée
OK, but two corrections:

Again, the action that you took removed it from your iTunes Library, but not from your purchases. Go to iTunes Store, click on Account then View My Account, then scroll to Hidden Purchases and click on Manage, you should see it there. That is the point of hiding the media. It doesn't show in your purchased list or your library - it is hidden.

Once again, media that you purchase from iTunes or from the Mac App Store do not take up your iCloud space. They are housed in what is called iTunes in the Cloud. You don't pay for this - and actually, the media itself is not stored anywhere - just the purchase history so that if you want to redownload it, the system can find the media in iTunes and redownload it for you. So, hiding does what it is intended to do. It removes all visible trace of your purchase.
If you would like to share your feelings with Apple, you can do so here: Apple - Feedback
Since this is a user to user technical support forum, Apple does not read or respond to posts here. They do read all feedback although they don't respond to it.

Gail,
I am humbly corrected. Wow. Both updated replies to my last post were not ever checked because I had thought I followed it all the way through to satisfaction. I didn't know iTunes had a hidden purchase history! As for the issue with cloud space, I concede that I had to read back through all your posts on this thread, and saw that you did, indeed, mention and explain this issue each time.
I'm so sorry for being "snotty" (not to mention also being a hypocrite). Thank you for your willingness to keep at it until I fully understood. Thank goodness humble pie doesn't have a calories.

😁 - No need to apologize. We all get frustrated sometimes (as in my post that you originally referred to). I'm just glad that you are good to go now!
Cheers,
GB
As it is not possible to delete books permanently from iCloud, I shall not buy any books anymore to read with iBooks.
Maybe this brings Apple to rethink their policy of not letting anything be permanently deleted.
Why don't you share your opinion with Apple
Thanks for your hint.
I thought Apple might monitor this...
As your "Apple" link doesn't work I'm dropping this matter and attending to more urgent stuff.
I have books on an adult level which I would like deleted after I read them. Apple should really come up for some way to make this happen.
Thank you @king_penguin. just did now.
From what I have read there are many ios users, myself included, who are appalled by Apple's lack of attention and concern as is relates to what should be a simple software update.
