Bootcamp boot -> black screen Blink cursor SOLVED!

Hi everybody!

After few days trying to solve this issue, I've finally solved it!

My problem was that after installing the Windows 7 64bits on a bootcamp partition, windows didn't boot, and only a black screen with a blinking cursos is shown on the iMac screen.

Finally I've found 3 commands that have solved the boot problem.

Turn on the iMac with the Windows 7 Installation Disc on SuperDrive or Windows 7 installation on the USB.

Press the Alt until the boot selector is shown.

Select the DVD/USB windows installation

Select your language and time bla bla bla.. click next.

After that, select Repair.

Then select the windows installation and click next,

After click on the last option from the menu to open a Prompt window.

Write and press enter after each sentence:

1- c:/Bootrec.exe /FixMbr

2- c:/Bootrec.exe /FixBoot

3- c:/Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd

Each command return a successfull message.

Close, and reboot!!

GOOD LUCK!

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Apple has had a tech note on this already, no?

Hello Xavi,

I have tried with a Windows Professional Version ISO downloaded from Internet and alas, I have exactly the same problem as before.

I have copied below the screens I see after selecting the languages, and you will see that I do not get the same screens as yourself. This is very weird... As you can see, there is no "repair" option at any time. Clicking on NEXT on the third screen below, the system proceeds to a new installation.

If you're trying to install Windows 7 on a 21.5" iMac (Mid 2010) what worked for me was a little too simple after several days of troubleshooting with other forums and guides.

After Windows installs, it reboots into what should be the user account creation screen for Windows but instead, you get a blank screen.

ANSWER: Simply plug in an external monitor using a mini display adapter and the external display should show the user account creation screen. Once you successfully login, download the ATI Radeon drivers through Windows Update and your iMac display should start working. I'm not saying this will work for everyone but it was the ONLY thing that worked for me.

Hope this helps and saves you some time.
