black screen on my iphone 5

I have a black screen on my new iphone 5 and can hear all the txts and stuff coming through but i cant see them, what should i do?

Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 10 seconds until the iPhone restarts itself. If still nothing, Restore iPhone with iTunes on your computer. If still problem, make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send iPhone to Apple for resolution.

Thanks a lot Brad805... Trick of holding home and power buttons worked like magic... It was a frightening morning when my phone refused to show-up anything... your suggestion helped..!!! Thanks once again

You can log into icloud and hope that your phone is in Find My iPhone and probably just erase everything on the phone and "start" over. That's what I had to do because my lock button does not work and the screen just turned black for no reason.

I recently had this problem I do this and it worked
