How to Find by Name Contains as Default in Mountain Lion?

Whenever there is a new update (well, primarily upgrades), I go through the menus and press the various combinations. It used to be that just Option would offer different options, but now the shift key does also.

I'd hoped that after 35 years Apple would realize that there is no point in implementing a feature without documenting any means to invoke it.

Maybe, they didn't implement it. There can be features that may work in any particular release that may not be fully developed and tested and considered ready. It could be that the feature is not supported and may disappear without notice. But I'm happy it's there for now at the very least.
