As crazy as it may sound!! The FREEZER trick worked!

1) IPhone in a zip bag in FREEZER for 15min

2) Reboot the IPhone

3) WIFI no longer grayed out, and all working fine and connected

I guess this is the magic of APPLE and I-Phone...

I was more than sceptical, and tried everything before (Upgrade from IOS 6.1.2 to 6.1.3, Restore the I-Phone a few times, reset Network settings, enable Flight mode and Do Not Disturb + hard reboot...), and nothing worked!

15min in the FREEZER and hey Presto!!

FYI, I have an I-Phone 4s (now IOS 6.1.3), and this is a 4S that has been replaced about 3 months ago (because of WIFI was grayed out, but at that time was covered by warranty)!

None of the network resets or restoration to factory settings worked. I tried the freezer trick it worked for a short period of time but within a day I lost the wifi again! Going to try to set up an appointment so Apple can tell me I need to buy a new phone. I guess this is one way to help sales?! Then again maybe I will just move on to the S4 and become an ihater.

Apple what is wrong with you? A bunch of people here we have problem with your product and where are you to take care of this? Where is the responsibility?

Recall the piece of garbages you collected in China to resemble this and give us a life. Or at least tell us that you are not top of the game anymore so that we can all move to android or even better to flat regular phones.

Obviously is a failure of your system iOS7/6 and not the hardware because the software works even when the hardware is turned down but it does not respond. Thought your wifi button does not move does not go to ON!

So it is a software issue and you better get that fixed or you are about to loose 5 iPhone fans within 7 days :)

Where is the spirit!

Does anyone else feel that Apple has made a product just to last until there new updated version has been released, forcing people out of warranty to purchase a new phone???

My first Iphone 4s was replaced under warranty due to it giving out an electrical current around the metal frame while charging and now the replacement has grayed out wifi but is out of warranty.

Like most people on this forum it only did this after an Apple recommended update and now we need to pay for there mistake.

I was thinking of upgrading to the new Iphone 5s when all the hype was over but how can anyone guaranty if there is an update on the 5s that this problem will not occur after the years warranty has expired???

I do not have £££££££££ to keep spending on expensive products.

I would just like the product I purchase stay in full working order for longer then two years.

Is that to mush to ask for???

Apple - walkway wakey...there's a growing community of people (who may have been big fans of your products in the past) who are getting very fed up. Do we have to complain in the press to get some action on this? These days many contracts last for 24 months; your warranty lasts for just 12. So after a bit more than 12 months neither you not the phone service provider is interested if a phone's wifi won't work; cynically it looks like its a scam to get us to buy a new phone.

But will the replacement phone be an Apple? Probably not unless you start to show a bit of customer care and fix this....you may know the figures. A happy customer tells lots of people about good service. But a disappointed customer tells MANY more. Brace yourself for losing a lot of customers .

Unless? Go on - amaze me (and everyone else suffering from the same fault) by fixing it ...I'm not holding my breathe
