Hi everyone,
Ive noticed something interesting, for the past few weeks apps have begun installing very slowly in the past few week over wifi. And I still haven't figured out why. My wifi conntection via speedtest.net was measured at a download rate of 18.85 Mbps. They used to install fairly quickly but I have noticed that they install very sluggishly as of recent.
any Ideas?

I saw the same results - seemed to pickup on Fri/Sat and then returned to slow last night (Sun)
I ruled out ISP issue - I have 3 different providers available to me and same thing happened on all 3. Time Warner, Cablevision, and Verizon.
BTW - I'm in NYC, and I even tried it at the Apple Store when I had an update and it was slow there also!!!

I'm also from Toronto area. I'm assuming ISP at this point. Other areas with Wifi is ok. Some people I know closer to me are also experiencing slow App Store DLs. Rogers?
I've seen this before on one or two of my own iPhones. Not sure what caused it or what fixed it.
I'm even seeing some FAILED INSTALLS where it's not just slow - it times out and fails to complete the installation.
FWIW - Florida, USA, Verizon Fios 85mbps down / 35mbps up, all Apple network (Airport Extremes and Expresses, No other services are affected by the slowdown.
This reminds me of a problem I had a few months ago where I couldn't load the app store on my iPad, but it worked perfectly fine on my iPhone. After a few days, it just started working again. People on these forums advised to try everything in the book to get it to work again, and all I had to do was wait it out. It was an Apple problem - they don't ever admit it when they have issues, unless they're major. I would imagine this is one of those cases as well, just from my experience and their history.
I'm still back to normal on wifi. Optimum Online in Northern New Jersey. I did nothing to fix the wifi problem. It fixed itself last week.
RESOLVED!
I've been using Google's DNS servers programmed into the router. (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4). I cleared those for now, App downloads are back to normal. Hope this solves for others...
Not so fast - I tried that last week (replaced Google DNS in router with default for ISP) with no improvement. Although - coincidently - the speeds have picked up tonight even though I made no changes.
Just didn't want you to assume it was Google DNS that solved your issue.
I'll continue to watch in my case and report if it comes back. But I tried downloading an app immediately before removing the DNS settings, it was slow. Picked up immediately after for me.
I did it! I finally figured out the problem with the iPhone 5!
The DNS server is the cause of the downloading issues.
The problem with the iphone 5 is that it will not automatically update the DNS server UNLESS you click forget network and re-enter your router wifi password etc. Make sure that the DNS field is empty before clicking forget network.
Then try again
Also you can try using a new/different dns server on your router this also helped quite a bit.
