installing ram into my macbook pro

so i was wondering if i have the ability to upgrad my current ram from 4GB to 16GB (2x gb ram cards) i know certain models of the mac book pro simply wont function when upgraded, or atleast thats what ive seen personally. I know i could install it myself with no problem i just dont know where to get a good set of 8GB cards from or if they will even work on my computer. Thanks for thehelp and patience, i recently switched from windows (hated it) to OSX Lion and mac so im still learning this stuff lol

Go here http://macsales.com/ and follow the links on ram for your model and they'll tell you what the most ram your mac can handle and they usually have quality items at the best prices.
