Bad print to new Epson after OS X update

After doing the last update from 10.8.3 we have been unable to get good prints to our new Epson printers (7890 and 9890). Has anyone heard of this or better still knows how to correcr this? I have tried resetting the print system and reinstalling the driver, I contacted Epson support but they were not useful.

I talked with Epson once again to see if there had been any updates. They gave me this to try and so far it seems to be working.

1. Apple-->System preferences-->Print and Scan

2. Select your printer (mine is a 7890)

3. Click the Options and Supplies button

4. Click on the drivers tab

5. Change the "Process Job by Printer", from "on" to "off"

6. Restart your printing program and try to print

Hopefully this helps!

iMacMommy:

your recommendation worked ( at least for the first time now I could print directly ) in my Epson 7900 Printer.

We shall see what the future has for us tomorrow. I have the feeling that this will be it until Apple and/or Epson correct the problem all together.

Thank you kindly for sharing. Also thank you for waiting on line for Epson. Lots of us were not that patient or that lucky..or both.

I have tried what Epson suggested and that is dump the Epson folder from library, repair premissions and reload epson, this worked, however turned computer and printer on again this morning again the same problem. Each time I dump the Espon folder it clears all Epson printer and this is becoming a real pain. Any solutions??

using iMAC running 10.8.3.

So far the best solution to the problem is what iMacMommy has suggested.(see above)

I tried it and it worked!. Unfortunately the problem returned a couple of days later. I again followed the directions 1 to 6 by iMacMommy.

The "process job by printer" was set to "on" again even though I had changed it as per points 5 and 6 to "off" before.

I changed it to OFF again

This worked and still works almost two weeks later!!!

Thank You iMacMommy.

Hello gang.....7900 user here(LR4) , reporting in....

I agree with other posters who've commented about there being a lack of reporting in byt he vast community of other epson owners out there....

I was going absolutely crazy, and unfortunately wasted hours on unecessary attempts at solving this problem.

mac mommy's simple fix is working brilliantly at the moment.

I will report back if this condition changes.

i am still using driver 8.66....i downloaded 9.04 but this drivers hasn't appeared to "take"

a big thanks to mommy and all of you who take the time to post fixes to get the rest of us going.

without you, the rest of us wouldn't live as long!
