iPad 2 wifi issues after iOS 6.1.3 update

I have had an iPad 2 since they were first released. It is wi-fi + 3G and had been accessing wi-fi everywhere (work, home, public) without problems...until the iOS 6.1.3 upgrade. Since then it is unable to find networks. If and when it does, the signal is weak and is after a few minutes. Here is what I have done:

1) Reset the iPad by turning it completely off and turning it back on.

2) Reset the iPad by holding down the home button and the on/off button until it reset itself.

3) Reset the Network by going to Setting/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings

4) Took it to the Apple Retail Store, where the "Genius" told me to restore it as a "New Device". I did so to no avail.

5) I let the battery run out completely, connected it to the power cord, and as soon as I was able to go to Settings, I turned wi-fi on and off and on again.

6) I reset the router at home several times.

None of these things worked! The problem persists and I am frustrated. So much so, that I have learned the iPad mini is having the same issues and altough I had planned on buying one for my wife for mother's day, I refuse to make the investment. I'm starting to be turned off by Apple and its games. The fact that the Genius Bar is so booked only tells me their devices seem to have more problems.

Does anyone have any suggestions or additional work arounds to the iPad 2 wifi problems with the iOS 6.1.3 update? Does anyone know if and when Apple plans to address this growing issue?

Thanks

This issue has made me so mad that I stopped using my ipad 2 and waited around for 7 to come out in hopes it would fix this problem they cause, but nope. I have read so many threads dealing with this situation and I keep seeing the same "fix" thrown around where it only works less than half the time for ppl. I'm giving Apple a few more weeks in hope of addressing this issue, if not I'm giving up on them and just getting a Surface.

I also update my wifi to a Apple wifi. Everything is working now on my iPad 2 except my kindle app. I have to re- download all my books. Good news is the new apple wifi can be set up wirelessly and very easily. You don't have to hard wire it to a laptop or computer to set it up. Setup was a breeze, but to safe I let my 18 year old do it, I just watched.

Good luck,

Denise

I've had my ipad 2 since the first day it came out in canada. I loved it! But two weeks ago about, the wifi started missing and I get a very weak Signal!

I have two homes and it's the same problem, if I'm not sitting by the router I don't get a signal. At work I used to get the wifi there too, now it's hit and miss if it even finds the network.

I changed my router in one of my homes, same probleme, my other equipment still works fine.

Went to apple store in Mtl and spoke to a genius. Wifi reception fine in the store. He did a diagnostics of my ipad and it's in great shape....

He suggested I try a Starbucks cafe to see if I have the same problem. Haven't had a chance to do that.

Was thinking of getting the ipad mini, but if wifi just quits without any reason and apple doesn't care I am not inclined to buy anymore of their products. One of the reasons we buy apple in the first place is for their quality and customer service, but if they do not acknowledge or fix the problem what's the point of buying apple?

Very disillusioned apple customer!

Adding myself to the choir.

My iPad is practically useless since the upgrade to 6.1.3. WiFi is up for two minutes, then just drops out. 😟

For the longest time I suspected my router, but tonight I took time to really test and I can tell you, this is definitely a bug in the iPad. Distance to the router often has something to do with it, but the problems persists, are repeatable and can happened even very close to the router. My iPhone and computer next to the device have no problems, so the bug is definitely there. 😠

I really loved this device, until now. Reading this thread is discomforting, but I have not given up on Apple just yet. Thank you all for sharing, I'll contact Apple tomorrow and let you know how it goes... Lets hope they can offer me something better than what they offered some of you guys.

I wish you all a good evening. 😍

FINALLY we have success....switched cable providers NOTHING....tried to figure out how to go back in time to a pre 6.whatever version, no dice....GAVE UP....grumbled....then, this weekend....birthday gift = airport time capsule....THEN --> my old airport expresses (2 of them circa OLD maybe the last century) could not connect...more grumbling...birthday gift upgrade = new fancy pancy aiport express.

VOILA!! timecapsule all hooked up to comcast modem, disconnected wireless dealio on comcast POS device & now it's only a modem (v/s a modem + a router) -- > then......express hooked up.....SOSOSOSOSO EASY...SOSOSOSO NICE....and now....full bars of wireless all over the house

i don't even care any more that husband's ipad (the one that jumped to a post 6.3.whatever that caused this whole ruckus) got its glass broken the next day....NOT MY PROBLEM....the wifi still worked! yup, that's all the empathy i could muster for him, "sorry...but, now you can get wifi on any toilet in the house....get your glass fixed yourself!" (aka: do not take my celebrating away from me....your wireless works & now i don't feel guilty that i upgraded you)

I did a full reset of the router - and then everything was fine. I have since updated the iPad iOS 7 - still fine. Worked at my mom's house as well - she has an AirPort Express as do I.

For what it is worth here is the info on the router - It is an AirPort Express, have no idea about it saying the card type is AirPort Extreme (something for others to address):
