Use iCloud email on Android Device?

I have a new iMac & iPad. But am still using an Android phone. I'd like to change my email address to iCloud. Does anyone know if I can send & receive emails using my new iCloud address on my Android device?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5), iPad 16g too.

Again, tell Apple, as I stated in my response to you on the other thread where you posted this concern:

From the Two-Step support article: Two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support

How do I sign in to my account using an app that doesn't support entering two-step verification codes?

You can generate an app-specific password from your Apple ID account page and enter it into the password field of the app that you want to sign in to. This allows you to sign in securely even if the app you’re using doesn’t support entering verification codes. For example, you might use an app-specific password to sign in to iCloud using a third-party email, address book, or calendar app.

If you want to generate an app-specific password, sign in to your Apple ID account page. In the Security section, click Edit > Generate Password.

Learn more about app-specific passwords.

From the Two-Factor support article: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

Generate app-specific passwords

With two-factor authentication, you need an app-specific password to sign in to your account using third-party apps or services such as email, contacts, or calendar apps not provided by Apple. Follow these steps to generate an app-specific password:

  1. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
  2. Click Generate Password below App-Specific Passwords.
  3. Follow the steps on your screen.

After you generate your app-specific password, enter or paste it into the password field of the app as you would normally.

You might want to provide feedback to Apple about adding this information to the iCloud Email Support Article: Apple - Feedback

Cheers,

I get an error, when using an app password with an account that has two-factor authentication turned on, when attempting to setup an iCloud email account, following these instructions, with these settings, in the Gmail app on a Google Pixel XL phone: "Username or password is incorrect." The Gmail app works for accounts that have two-factor authentication turned on for Hotmail, Live mail and Yahoo mail just fine, so not sure why Apple would fail...

There is a very major hole in the information in this land no, which it has taken me a long time to

patch: take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864

it should contain prominently, the following warning concerning use of Apple's two-factor authentication:

If . . . then you will need to set up an 'application-specific password by logging into your Apple account And following the instructions there. You then use this password instead of your normal Apple password in setting up the iCloud mail accounot.

iCloud email is industry standard IMAP and should work perfectly well on any device whose Mail client can access IMAP and handle SSL. The OP asked this question two years ago so any answer is presumably now redundant for them, but in case anyone else comes across this thread the settings are:

IMAP information for the incoming mail server

  • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
  • SSL Required: Yes
If you see an error message when using SSL, try using TLS instead.
  • Port: 993
  • Username: This is usually the name part of your iCloud email address (for example, emilyparker, not emilyparker@icloud.com). If your email client can't connect to iCloud using just the name part of your iCloud email address, try using the full address.
  • Password: Your iCloud password

SMTP information for the outgoing mail server

  • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
  • SSL Required: Yes
If you see an error message when using SSL, try using TLS or STARTTLS instead.
  • Port: 587
  • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
  • Username: Your full iCloud email address (for example, emilyparker@icloud.com, not emilyparker)
  • Password: Your iCloud password

You can add the iCloud email address to your android but it will be spotty service. iCloud emails are not made to be used on anything but apple because its main purpose is data storage.

I would try forwarding your emails to your primary email account(not an iCloud email) which you can do and that way your android device will have no issues with the server.

here is a website that might help but like I said, this program is not made to be used on other operating systems so it will work sometimes and not work other.

I have the same issue...and can't get the 2 factor verification set or find the generate password option....

I get a message telling me there is a 30 wait period....

So...gone from all working...to now not working on Android...and a month before it seems I can fix....

Odd and annoying

There is no 30 day waiting period. Please provide the exact message you are getting, and describe what you are doing (and where you are doing it) when you get that message.

I am having the same problem; I bought a MacBook Pro 15" a year ago (found myself dismayed that Apple removed the CD/DVD-rom drive (to anyone who is an audiophile there's too much lost (orchestral colors, nuance - the result bleeds) in the compression for music downloads from iTunes I called APLCARE and got no help, suggesting that I ought to get help from manufacturer or Android/Google. This is a highly unsatisfactory response when one shells out $40-plus/year for iCloud. Moreover, Apple needs to get over itself and stop making interoperability with other hardware/software so difficult.

I ditched my iPhone after some changes were made to functionality in revolution 5, switched to Samsung Galaxy X6 edge and was mighty pleased (and I'm eyeing X8 as it looks to be hugely improved in many respects ... just going to hold another half-quarter or so by which point any kinks will be straightened out).

Sorry for the rant, but behemoth's been awfully arrogant of late.
