why don't keys repeat on OSX 10.8.3

why when I hold the "e" key down and various other keys it doesn't just repeat the letter?? and how do I MAKE it repeat the letter??


can anyone help me? I tend to use my letters in that fashion a lot

whilst I respect it's not a lot of effort to press the button a few times I do prefer just having to press and hold :/

Silly me, I was thinking along the terms of vi = visually impaired. 😊
