Macbook pro freezes constantly -HELP

Please please help. It's driving me nuts. My macbook pro early 2011 started freezing, with lines on the screen and I am have to force shut down evertime.
It first started happening about a month ago, like 3 times in a row in one hour, then I followed a series of procedures that I found here in the forums and stoped, then since yesterday started happening again, and the computer doesn't last more than 10 min without freezing. without doing anything in particular, like just using chrome.

I have started up in safe-mode, I have used disk utility etc.

Note: I installed 2 new memories of 8GB each..could it be this?

Can anyone suggest anything before I have to take it to an apple store? I live in Rio de Janeiro and they take 15 days just to inspect the computer! I can't be this long without computer!!

Many thanks in advance

Hi ds store!

First thing this morning I put the original RAM back (4GB), it worked for most of the day without freezing, and then it happened again! since then I can´t have it on for more than 5 min.

I bought my RAM on Crucial and it´s a crucial RAM 😟

I honestly don´t think its cause of the RAM

I am going to run the extended harware test now, but then what do I do with the results? do I post them here?

thank you for your help!

I have put my old memory back and after a few hours it froze again! and it seams that its getting worse and worse!

How can I boot from a different hard drive?

I have SMART reporter installed andanother one, that supposely tell me if my drive is falling and its says everything is fine! I have also repaired disk permissions several times, and if I ´verify disk´ it also says everything is fine.

It's not the RAM.

Connect another bootable disk

System Preferences > Startup Disk > pick the other disk

SMART is a positive failure indicator. If SMART says the drive is dead, it is dead. If SMART doesn't say the drive is dead, it could still be dead. I always suggest checking the hard drive because they always fail, they are so easy to check, and so cheap and easy to replace.

There is also a possibility you could have some software conflict with kernel extensions. "Lines on the screen" typically means some type of hardware failure, but this is an internet forum, so you never know. I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what might be causing software conflicts. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/download/EtreCheck.zip, run it, and paste the results here.

Great... I just discovered I also have the malware "api.mybrowserbar.com"

In this discussion https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4968494?answerId=21781910022#21781910022, the guy solved it just by entering in safe boot, but my mac it´s not even getting in safe boot, it get´s stuck on a dark grey sreen.

could this malware be causing all of this??

shall I create a new discussion?!

hi etresoft, can you please please get back to me? i posted the results from the test u recomended here! many thanks

I don't know. Lines on the screen is always always a hardware failure. Now you are talking about malware?

Try booting into your recovery partition. Hold down command R while booting: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

While there, run Disk Utility and repair your disk. Is your external disk Time Machine or a bootable clone? If so, you can restart while holding down the option key and pick your startup volume. If it runs perfectly from another drive, then your startup drive is bad.

May 21, 2013 1:32 PM in response to etresoft

but did that test you toldme todo show anything?

i already did repair disk while on recovery partition and says its OK! every test i do in regards to the drive it says its ok!! how can i knowfor sure its failing?!

my external disk is just where i back up stuff but its not time machine! can i just start up my computer from it?!

and then i can use my computer normally?

thanks for your time
