iPhone 4s sound problem!?

Okay so this started agesss ago when i downloaded ios5? I figured that when i updated the software it would be fixed! But no unfortunately. Anyway the problem is that the sound on my iPhone 4s randomly stops working! Alarms still sound but thats it. I can try and adjust the volume but when i press the volume button the speaker picture shoes but none of the white dots to show that the sound is turning up. Same with when i try and slide the volume up, theres no slidey thing there. 😟 Is there anyone that knows how i can fix this!? The sounds works sometimes, but most of the time it doesnt. Otherwise the only time i can hear siund is through headphones. and after i take the headphones out the sond goes back to not working.....

This is driving me crazy! Any help would be greatttt. 🙂

I am now having the same problem /// No sound at all on my iPhone 4S

and not sound icons: When I press the + or - sound button - I see the bell but no dots

When I pull up my icons for bright & sound - again bright is there but no sound....

Plugged my iPhone into my desktop computer and went to iTunes (hoping for the same results as above (2 weeks ago) JT Graves

This time it is taking 4 hours to update

I think it is syncing with my Audible app and my Bible Gateway app which I normally use on iPad....

In 4 hours, I will let you know if this works...

Don't waste time on this problem. If you clean the charging dock of your iPhone, it works!! I don't understand what is the problem, but it works by cleaning the charging port. I found this awesome solution here: Hope everyone fix the sound issue.

I had spent hours trawling through the discussion posts on this issue, having tried pretty much everything suggested. It turned out that it was a problem with the charging port. However the way I fixed mine was using a pin, insert it behind the white, long piece inside the charging port and just slide it up and down the length of this piece. The sound worked immediately after this. Hope this helps somebody! Its a very annoying issue!

how to fix the sound on my iphone 4s ??. the problem is its sound unlike any other 4s, 4s the other is not clear, the voice sounded different. Please help.

Dirt in charging port makes phone think it's plugged into a device, hence no sound. Clean charging port with a knife covered in tissue paper and nail polish remover or alcohol. Worked for me.
