What happened to "recent items" when I open iWorks?

Mine's from an iWork DVD (Familly Pack) as well, updated to match the OS X version on the machine where it's installed.

10.4.11 - 4.0.3

10.5.8 - 4.0.5

10.8.3 - 4.3 (1048)

All four buttons and the slider appear in each.

I am running OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks) and Pages 5.2.2. When I searched for this same question (10/8/2014) this post popped up first. Just in case anyone with the same configuration does the same thing:

• The most recent documents are accessible when you right-click (option-click) the Pages icon in the dock.
• When Pages is not active, this menu will also display "Show Recents".
• If clicked, the screen will go dark and a line of Pages document icons will appear at the bottom of the screen.
• When hovered over, the full file name of each document will be displayed.

For most people, me included, it is very hard to search for info in help documents when you don't know what you are looking for.

No.

I'm running Pages 4.3 (1048) on an MBPro under OSX v10.8.5 (last version of Mountain Lion).

I have Pages set to open to a new blank WP document, but choosing File > New from Template Chooser opens the Template Chooser with the buttons for Open Recent and Open an Existing file both visible at bottom left.
