iPhone to Android iMessage bug fix

I was having the problem when i switched from my iPhone to my Galaxy s4 where people using iPhones would try to text me and it wouldn't get to me because it would be sent in iMessage. Well i asked one of my friends who knows a lot about Apple products and he seems to have found a fix. What worked for me is to open iTunes, then go to account. Once there find the the section "iTunes in the cloud" and the option in there "Manage my devices". You have to go in there and remove your iPhone from the iCloud and that should work, or at least it did for me.

I clicked away went to the next result http://www.switchiphone.com/ and found a perfectly logical fix to solve my problem in 30 seconds.

Actually... the link you tout as both successful and findable within 30 seconds contains several errors and no real solution. And IMO, any resource that points to a Reddit thread for context can't end well.

The link for support profile.apple.com leads nowhere, as Apple stopped that service a while ago.

The suggested target for an SMS to unsubscribe does nothing to deregister an iPhone.

You do rightly point out the only correct resource is the one Maxsimonidis provided.

Apple has made a fix for this https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage

Nice rant though.

it worked for me... so clearly ur wrong. after i updated my iphone and turned on send as sms my brother was suddenly able to get my messages. so, now that u have clearly posted a false statement as if it were truth please, stop posting ur useless ramblings and cluttering up these forums.

fromsouth is talking in the third person. fromsouth would do better to further his cause if he posted constructive messages instead of lowering himself to larryhutch's lvl.

Because it worked for you, it works for everyone? That is a logical falacy.

Thanks for the advice on not posting, and your comment on my level. LOL

i was explaining how ur statement was a logical falacy because u claimed that these steps dont work at all. not once did i claim that because they work for me they also must work for everyone. please actually read my posts if u intend to reply to them.

as of right now the best fix is to call applecare and have them revoke ur # out of the system. it will take 24-48 hours for that to take affect. if ur still having issues with not getting messages from iphones then that means u have done everything u can on ur end and its ur contacts that arent doing what they need to do to be able to send u messages. they currently still have u saved as an imessage using contact and are not getting the notification from apple servers that u are no longer using imessage. to fix this bug they will need to update their software to recieve a patch for this apple has sent out. it would also be a good idea to have them turn on "send as sms" in their settings>messages. this setting is designed to let people send regular texts when the person u are texting does not have imessage available at the time and the settings is normally off by default.

Does anyone think that if I WIPE my ANDROID it might help? My friend enabled "Send as SMS" on her iPhone but it still won't send me her group MMS. However my wife's iPhone does send group MMS to that same thread.

i dont think that wiping ur android will help at all actually. the group messaging is the stickler for the problem at the moment. u can try having ur contacts that are trying to group message u delete u as a contact completely, as well as any conversations they have with u in it at all, and then re-add u and see if that works. but that is an extreme fix for the issue.

Unfortunately, I very much doubt that will help. You can ensure that she's upgraded to 7.1 (or 7.1.1 today) and that might help.

Fromsouth has previously expressed multiple times the same opinion, that problem is not on your Android, but on the iphone that sends messages to you. He would suggest to attempt reset network settings on friend's iphone and see if that will fix the glitch. Fromsouth may be wrong. But he still reserves the right to type in third person on that particular thread, just to show that he cares.

I think she's already done all that but unfortunately can't be certain and I don't want to ask her because she's not a close friend, but our dog walker. I feel badly asking her to do so much work just so that she can group MMS me and my wife. Yes, it's an extreme fix that even my close friends are unwilling to do without giving me grief. 😟

quitob1 appreciates fromsouth's help, but quitob1 cannot ask his friend to tinker with her iphone anymore. quitob1 is just getting desparate and running out of options. 😟

I see no way that wiping your Android phone will in any way change your circumstances. The problem does not lie in the Android phone, it lies in the delivery system. Wiping your phone will not change that, imo.

Again, for clarity, I stand by my statement that there is no current patch available that will fix the problem for everyone, nor will having your contacts turn "send as SMS" on fix the problem for everyone. Some have said it fixed it for them; for me, it did not fix it.

If you have done everything that has been suggested in this thread and you are still having problems, then I believe you will continue to have problems until Apple changes something on their end.

I also agree with you that contacting all of your contacts and telling them to turn on "send as SMS" is not reasonable, and in my case, having them do that did not fix the problem.

As I said, I no longer use my iphone as a phone and no longer have the same number. As a result, I no longer have the texting problem and can receive all texts from my family once again. Since I can do no more testing of this issue, I shall withdraw from the thread unless I receive further replies. Good luck to all with this problem.

I apologize about the odd style but I'm using voice rec software. I just got the Galaxy S five and I have this problem too after weeks of searching online I finally figured out the problem it is with iMessage even if you have your old phones imessage switched off. you have to get your friends to text you normally and send. If the text bubble shows up blue, press and hold choose option send as SMS or text and the bubble will change to green green means SMS blue is the iMessage so its up to the iPhone user to take literally a half of an extra step to send a text to you and if they don't do that then they're just jerks

Hi All,

Yesterday there's a new Google Hangout's update 4.1. that I installed and some of my iPhone users can now send me group MMS! Fingers crossed that it's working for ALL my future iPhone group MMS.

Give it a try and let us know it works for you. What's weird is that if it DOES actually fix the issue, does that then mean it was Google's problem the entire time, or did Google find some workaround for those iPhones who are caching my number tied to iMessages?

I'm 20 days into my switch from iphone to Android and I've spent an inordinate amount of time working to try to resolve this issue to no avail.

I've always loved Apple and had planned to go back when the iphone 6 came out but this issue has pushed me over the edge and I'm not sure I'll go back after the way they have refused to help me get this resolved.

I've been able to get direct one-on-one messages from some friends by using steps listed above but the bigger problem seems to be with Group texts for me. I get group messages from some iphones but not from most. Even iphones who can send me a one-on-one message successfully are not able to send group messages.

But the biggest problem is that the user on the other end doesn't get an error so they think the message went through. Providing an error message to the sender would be an extremely easy step for Apple and their refusal to do it is simply negligent.

At this point the only answer Apple has given me is to wait an additional 25 days (45 total) and by then the issue will magically resolve itself through certificate renewal on every one of my friend's phone. I would like to believe this but at this point I'm pretty skeptical that this will ever be resolved.

As a quick update, I called AT&T and asked for a refund on my monthly bill since I was paying for unlimited messaging but some of my messages were not coming through and they knocked roughly $100 off my bill (I have 2 smartphones on the account).

I explained that while I understand this is not an AT&T problem, it is up to AT&T to guarentee my service and therefore its up to them to work with (or force) apple to get this fixed.

I would encourage all of you to do the same and perhaps if AT&T has to give enough refunds they will be encouraged to step up the pressure on Apple to get this resolved.

This thread started at the beginning of January... in the Apple discussions section. Now, I didn't read all 26 pages, but you'd think an Administrator would come in and say something like "Hey Guys! Sorry we've ruined your mobile experience, but we are working on this problem."

Fast Forward to April 28... not a peep or even a an inkling that some type of solution is on the way. I've tried everything and pretty much have given up and am going to go make new friends that use droids on craigslist.. I can't believe this hasn't been acknowledged by apple as a super serious problem..
