iPhone to Android iMessage bug fix

I was having the problem when i switched from my iPhone to my Galaxy s4 where people using iPhones would try to text me and it wouldn't get to me because it would be sent in iMessage. Well i asked one of my friends who knows a lot about Apple products and he seems to have found a fix. What worked for me is to open iTunes, then go to account. Once there find the the section "iTunes in the cloud" and the option in there "Manage my devices". You have to go in there and remove your iPhone from the iCloud and that should work, or at least it did for me.

Let me try this reply again. Apparently I keep saying things that get my posts ripped down....even though they seemingly look similar to what others have said.....

That response is so "interesting".... Windows is known to be "bad", anyone who knows that either buys a Mac or runs a different platform. The rest of the lemmings are just running it because they don't know what else to do. And as for your analogy....It breaks down because not all cars are expected to have on-star........they are however expected to run as designed.....when I buy a telephone for my house, regardless of manufacturer or service, it works with all phone companies.......when I buy a car, regardless of the manufacturer I buy from and who I owned before....I expect it to work DESPITE the manufacturer of my previous car.....when I buy a cell phone, I EXPECT that it would operate in the world as designed DESPITE who made my last phone. So, if your Honda quit working 50% of the time.....because you used to own a Ford.......would you be angry with Ford? And again, the fix doesn't fix it. I just had a group text situation today that wouldn't work and everyone had to send me individual responses.........which was lots of fun.......

Is this post better Host?

Its hilarious Zelous......that you believe your phone was fixed right off the bat....

So tell me this, were there things that happened today that you can't remember? kind of a silly question right? Of course when you can't remember something you can't actually remember that you can't remember it........the information is just gone, you can't access it.

So, with a problem where Iphone messages do not come to you.....how do you know that you've gotten EVERY SINGLE TEXT? My guess is that you wouldn't.............the issue happens and you don't always know, and if someone doesn't wonder why you didn't respond or didn't expect you to respond they might not actually ask....and you would never know.

My friend just went through this. The android owner should contact apple and have them remove your phone number from your AppleID. Apple incorrectly associates the phone with a current AppleID and tries to send iMessages to it. Android does not receive them. Since the appleID the iMessage was sent to is still valid, it does not kick back an error in sending.

Contact Apple and have them remove your (now Android phone#) from your original AppleID account.

Like people have said on this thread, that is an important step to take but it will not solve the entire problem. People who have messaged you before may continue to do so via iMessage. For me, that has been especially true with group messages.

how do i know? because i checked. after i called apple, had my # removed, and waited the 48 hours, i group messaged everyone that i know that has an iphone and told them to try and text me. i got all but 3 of my contact's messages. i then told those 3 what to do to fix their phone so it can text people that no longer use imessage. i got their subsequent text messages. i fixed the imessage problem in 3 days after switching to an android. im sorry to say, u are wrong. wrong wrong wrong. maybe i havent posted this enough times. U R WRONG MIKE. so unless u want to post obvious lies in the face of irrefutable proof that u are wrong, please adjust ur future posts to include the fact that the proper troubleshooting steps DO work for some people.

because if u dont, im gonna be there to make u look like an idiot.

Interesting.....a pro-apple poster doesn't get his post removed even though he is using......what did that Apple Host call it when they ripped down my post????? Oh yeah....inflammatory statements......which mine were actually less than what you wrote....but of course Apple has its own set of standards when we are drinking the kool-aid.

Z....irrefutable evidence? Please look that up on google and learn what that means dear Lord. If we were in court I can bet you what I wrote goes over better with a jury. No one's personal account of what has happened is irrefutable. And again, just because you had an instance where things worked doesn't mean THEY ALWAYS WORK. The issue with this whole mess is that your steps IMPROVE things but they do NOT fix things. My point to you is that even this far out you have no idea what you have missed unless you are a socio-path and are stalking everyone with an Iphone and asking them every day if they sent you a message and then reconciling some spreadsheet you have started......so, U R WRONG Zelous, WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG........WRRRRRROOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG (sung with a British accent). Random issues that drop texts that you may never know got sent is impossible IMPOSSIBLE for you to know if it still occurs with your phone. IMPOSSIBLE. Unless, you are 13 and have 2 friends with an Iphone..........which you might be.

And when Apple loses the class action lawsuit, I'll come back to gloat........

If we found an OS that was either purposely or accidentally created that screwed up 50% of all other users of a similar product I would agree with you Chris..............its hilarious that you people just keep going even though you know it is an ENORMOUS issue. This isn't just a glitch that makes your browser not work periodically, IT SHUTS DOWN 50% OF WHAT THE PHONE IS USED FOR.............your idea is that if Ford makes a car where 50% of the cars sold need new transmissions in 6 months that somehow that is the same as a Honda that had a frew side view mirrors not work..............not Apples to Oranges......

Agree with me on what? I didn't make a statement to agree/disagree with. I asked a question.

50% of all other users? Where did you come up with this (ridiculous) figure?

its hilarious that you people just keep going even though you know it is an ENORMOUS issue.

I never suggested it wasn't an issue.

It's amazng that "you people" keep going on & on & on about it.

even though you know it is an ENORMOUS issue.

It is an issue for some. How do you qualify ENORMOUS (in CAPS even)?

your idea is that if Ford makes a car where 50% of the cars sold need new transmissions in 6 months that somehow that is the same as a Honda that had a frew side view mirrors not work..............not Apples to Oranges......

Where did you get this was my idea?

Or that I don't think it doesn't need to get fixed. Or that I don't think there is an issue?

Hey, Apple. Looks like you got some egg there on your face:

Get ready for the storm because this story is blowing up. Stop playing dirty tactics and just release that fix you've been sitting on since 2011, and we can close this thread. As an Apple-loyalist since the Wallstreet Black Powerbook, you've just lost my faith because of this. Grrr.

if u spent as much effort trying to fix ur imessage issue as u do trying to prove how much u can be wrong on a forum i think u would be a happy person by now. and btw its very simply really. i have an ipad that was signed into the same apple id. so all messages that were coming in as imessage showed up there. i KNOW when i dont get a message. in other words, ur mouth must very much taste like feet after all of this. and that ends my trolling on mike because quite frankly, its just getting boring (for now).

as for the people on here that are reading this to actually fix their problem and not just complain like whiney little children that it doesnt fix itself without some work:

1. call applecare and have ur number removed from the system

2. wait 48 hours

3. tell anyone that u suspect is still sending u imessages instead of regular sms text messages to update their software and turn on send as sms in their message settings. if u dont feel like troubleshooting their phone with those steps then u can alway have them call applecare instead.

these steps have not proven 100% effective for everyone, especially for group messaging, but they are the best method to getting the issue resolved as of right now.

May 19, 2014 3:35 PM in response to Chris CA

Because you have made several (no i am not going to go back and count them) statements that make it seem this "hidden" problem that hasn't been acknowledged by Apple is the same as other "glitches" from other devices....suggesting if other devices aren't perfect then it is the same as this problem........which is a complete reduction of the size and magnitiude of this problem (have you seen the article posted by Forbes? How many billion SMS get sent every year? this is a very big problem.
