iPhone to Android iMessage bug fix

Not a glitch? Apple already acknowledged it was a bug...now walk away fanboy.

Hello, My wife has an iPhone 5S and she does send messages to me on my Samsung Galagy S5.

Verizon/AT&T said that Apple has a workaround, but required that the person with the iPhone turn off iMessage, delete your contact card from their address book, restart their phone, then create a new address book entry and then turn back on iMessage. It's a fiasco, but it can be fixed. Problem is that you might have to make sure that all your contacts do this in order to get everyone else's messages!!!!!!

I think the best solution for us who now use a "Galaxy S5 phone" that used to have an "iPhone" is to use WHATS-APP!!!!!!! That way, everyone receives your messages and is happy!!!!! Have a nice day.

everyone else will need to also download and use Whatsapp!!!

In your Iphone go to settings/messages/ and swipe off iMessage, problem solved !

As noted many times by many different iOS users, simply turning off iMessage on all devices has no effect.

might want to actually speak to apple to get the best facts first.

try telling everyone u know to update their software. the latest patch helps out with imessage for a lot of people (some others are still experiencing the issue even after that). they should try and keep their software updated anyways so telling people that shouldnt be to bad even though its still a pain in the butt.

another good step to try is to have them turn on send as sms in their settings>messages. this is something i would personally think should be on by default but its unfortanetly not. its function is to turn any imessages that are sent to someone not using imessage into a regular text message instead.

I guess I should be a little more clear here. I have the latest iOS software on my iphone 4, I think it is 7.1.1 My friend here at work has an android phone. She was not getting my texts because it was sending it in an iMessage which is only reserved for iphones. Turning the iMessage feature off on the phone worked for me and now she gets my messages. You just wont be able to imessage between iphones with it off it will just be a regular SMS message. So it worked for me and should work if you have the latest iOS software. this is the only thing that i have come across that works untill apple fixes this issue in a future iOS update.

that solution should work for anyone regardless of what software they are using. its just impractical to have to completely turn off imessage on every phone that is trying to send messages to a new droid.

In my experience, even this "work around" doesn't fix the problem with group messaging. So while you can get a direct message from your wife you should see if your wife and you were on any group imessage threads and try to send a message to that entire group. In my experience those messages do not come through to the non-iphone user yet no error message is displayed to the sender.

Yes this works, but it is not a consistent solution. It does work more often than not, but then there are times when I find that the message was not received by the iPhone user. Sometimes, the iPhone user gets the message failed response from thier device when attempting to text me. Looks like Apple has some more de-bugging to do and a class action suit to avoid. Not that it matters to the iPhone cult.

I didn't have time to read all the posts so I'm not sure if someone told you to try this... but I have an iphone and my friend who recently switched from an iphone to android I having the same problem... the easiest fix I found was I deleted them from my phone contacts and re-added them... Fixed the problem right away.

Ok party people as I mentioned in Mid May i'm reporting back. To review: most of us know all of the potential "fixes" needed by the iphone users to enable messages to be received by non iPhone users- for some they work and for some they do not. They did not work for me. Someone here (fromsouth?) had referenced a 45-day period where apples servers purge your information. I have to say that that time frame has passed and it now appears that receiving text messages from IPhone contacts is working for me.

The thing i do not understand is the 45-day timeline- i understand the timeline but i do not understand (at least af of Mid May- the last time i was researching this issue) is why Apple has not been forthright about it anywhere in online support or via support calls. Again, another poster informed me and others about it. That's my 2 cents.

Try seeing if party member has you blocked its happened to me before or try a hard reset
