iPhone to Android iMessage bug fix

I was having the problem when i switched from my iPhone to my Galaxy s4 where people using iPhones would try to text me and it wouldn't get to me because it would be sent in iMessage. Well i asked one of my friends who knows a lot about Apple products and he seems to have found a fix. What worked for me is to open iTunes, then go to account. Once there find the the section "iTunes in the cloud" and the option in there "Manage my devices". You have to go in there and remove your iPhone from the iCloud and that should work, or at least it did for me.

I first called Apple about this issue back in February when I thought it was just one iPhone user, but called again today after realizing that more group conversations were leaving my android phone out. My iMessage has been deactivated since my first support call in February, and I've run the self-deactivation webpage several times and it says iMessage is not activated with this phone number.

I've had my friends with iPhones who group message delete my phone number and the thread, and resend a group message - the first goes through as text MMS, but somehow the iPhones start talking to each other and switch to iMessage and I stop receiving messages.

Apple support this morning had me remove my number from the support profile and then have iPhone users delete threads and contact info and re-add me, but the problem persisted. Apple this afternoon at a call back told me to call my carrier to see if it was a configuration issue, which I don't see it being the case. T-Mobile said it's a group iMessage problem, where they will always switch to iMessage if an iPhone user responds. So they suggested telling my iPhone friends to turn off iMessage... which would just of course prevent them from getting group iMessages.

I've been dealing with this with a group of friends. 3 of us are iphone, 1 is android. we have tried all of this. i went to apple store. there should be NO problem they say. We still have the problem of messages not getting delivered or responses getting delayed or posted to just one of us. This really seems like it's all APPLE trying to NOT be compatible. Even after downloading the 4th or 5th bug fix from IOS 8 it still happens. APPLE what are you doing?

This is not the solution. I've done that. I went to the store and spoke with the Genius. I've deleted everyone and readded everyones contact info. We have tried an android to apple fix that didnt work, and vice versa. This is clearly an APPLE incompatibility issue that they do not want to fix.

OK. People buy apple products and enjoy apple's proprietary imessage system. Then they leave apple and do not enjoy service that is not available to

them anymore. They just do not have it ANYMORE. People can adapt - or complain. Hence that thread. Adapt or come back here and complain. Every

advice to adapt was provided here. There is nothing to add.

People buy apple products and expect to enjoy standard messaging systems too, where their messages get to their intended target. The problem is not enjoying service that SHOULD be available. We don't want iMessage back, we want non-proprietary MMS back.

Receiving group messages is something that should be available, and something that works on all iPhones prior to iMessage, all Android phones, all Windows phones, and all RIM phones. When you cannot adapt, as you are not the iPhone user and the problem is with iMessage programming, all there is left is to bring light to the issue.

What "people expect" comes from not knowing. "Bringing light" is complaining. You more then welcome to continue to "bring light".

Since Apple never advertised and never says that iPhone users should expect to no longer be able to text people without iPhones, I don't think what "people expect" comes from not knowing. This isn't about knowing or not, this is about a bug.

Bringing light to a bug, complaining about a bug, is how bugs get fixed. Whether it's previous iMessage bugs, lockscreen bypasses, killing wifi... those come to light because users bring light to them by complaining to Apple, and Apple issues a bug fix.

Of course we are more than welcome to bring light to more bugs that Apple makes.

It's not a bug. Not everyone ports their number from an iPhone to a non-iPhone permanently. Many people do so when they need to send in their iPhone for service and are using an older device. I once ported my number for a week from my iPhone to an old flip-phone.

And Apple never advertises it? Check again:

[What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support]

Go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Erase All Content and Settings.

This will completely erase your device, including any credit or debit cards you added for Apple Pay and any photos, contacts, music, or apps. It will also turn off iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, Game Center, and other services.
