Why two Send boxes in Mail App ?

I sometimes get confused: where is my sent mail ? there are two Sent boxes.
One under Mailboxes and one under Gmail

I never know when the sent mail appears on one or the other.

So now you admit that Mail has poor support for Gmail ?

I have also tried with Yahoo mail account in Mail and encountered problems with the Send folder

There are folders Send and Sent Messages - cannot make only one Sent folder

Yahoo has a folder system i e not labels and yet it does not play nice with Mail.

I never said it had good, poor, or otherwise.

I told you how Mail and IMAP works and I told you how Gmail works. They are almost mutually exclusive.

I believe the only statement was that Mail works fine with an standard IMAP account. Both Gmail and Yahoo are not standard IMAP accounts in any way, shape, or form.

If you want to use Gmail as it is, use the web interface. That is how it was designed.

If you want to access Gmail in Mail, figure out which workarounds you want to implement, and do so. Live with the rest of the imcompatibilities.

Your problem, as stated in your original post, is completely correctable as we have described, but you have some malformed mistrust of such a workaround.

If you want to use Mail, use an email provider that isn't as goofy as the day is long.

Here are some suggestions: http://imapwiki.org/ImapTest/ServerStatus

Postbox seems to work nice with both Gmail and Yahoo.
Has a much cleaner interface than Mail or Gmail or Yahoo.

It seems to my liking at once.

They want 9.95USD for an initial buy - they will keep on asking money for upgrades (now 4.95)- and since new upgrades will be issued all the time this means a permanent fee. They may come with a new upgrade several times a year.

Not to my liking....

Mail is designed to be used with other accounts only, not as a stand-alone application ?

My problem as originally described was smaller than I first thought.

It grew as I got better acquainted with Mail and read articles about problems I did not notice intitially

I have never heared of standard IMAP and non-standard IMAP etc

Mail promises to accomodate other accounts but it does it with some inompatibilities which come as a surprize.

Then don't buy it, the choice is yours, restrict your choices to the free mail services.

Mail won't do anything as a stand-alone program, it has to be connected to a mail account in order to send and receive mail.

The page opens fine. Try scrolling.

They don't have forums, but are looking at setting one up, in addition to the Mozilla ones.

Where can I find help? We have found that the best way to service Postbox customers is to help them, help themselves. As such, we have a number of support resources available to you.

  1. We always recommend that you search or browse through our User Guides, Knowledge Base Articles, and FAQ.
  2. We have a very specific set of Trouble-Shooting Steps that we recommend all Postbox users follow.
  3. Since Postbox is based on Mozilla code, you can search the popular MozillaZine forums to see if any questions are similar to the ones that you have.
  4. Try searching Google, as it is very likely that other people have posted similar questions/answers to the web, particularly for issues that relate to POP or IMAP protocol issues that are common to all email clients.
  5. Additionally, we're currently evaluating a number of different Forum solutions that will enable Postbox users to collaborate and share ideas. We thank you in advance for your patience as we work towards a solution on this front.
Please note that we do not offer one-on-one support offerings to new users. All support efforts are currently dedicated towards providing better documentation and self-help solutions so that users can more quickly find the answers they need.

I strongly urge you to look at paid service, either a client or a standards compliant IMAP service.

Yes, how could I not think of scrolling ? because I am used to a new page popping up....

I did not notice any change on the page, who could think of scrolling ? you ! how come ?

Yes , I must subscribe to a pay service but only if they have support

Postbox has no one-one support, they never reply on technical questions such as this.

Do you know another email client that you recommend ?

Politeness & the forum rules forbid me to comment.

There is a massive list / comparison of email clients on Wikipedia. You should be able to find someone else to help.

Your lack of skill is extraordinary, you barely understand how to do anything yet you constantly blame others for your failure to comprehend. Added to that you are insulting. The fact that almost 2 months has gone by and you still can't achieve anything is informing you, will you take the lesson?

I think not.

Use a pen and paper, you are not adequate to the task of setting up an email client.

Jul 16, 2013 6:24 AM in response to Csound1

If CSound1 likes to give explanations he/she/it should be able to refer to articles or other threads rather than trying to explain in his own words - which is often murky.
If CSound1 does not admit that Mail has some issues he/she/it must be brainswashed.

Many of the Forum folks are brainwashed, they are worshipping Mac, and never will admit anyone who sees issues.
I have painstakingly tried to convince you and others about these issues

And they tell me "I have no problems, it is you who has problems"
Isn't this ungratefull ?
And I also discovered issues with Gmail

Once I know that these are problems yet to solve, I can go on and use these mail clients
Most people have a problem with emailing, it is not easy as it seems.
They accumulate thousands of mails in a very disorganized manner and are not able to carry out a normal correspondence.
They have problems which they don't know about.

Please do not imagine that your ineptitude is general, you have failed to do the simplest things (eg: clicking on links) most of the rest of us can do that without issue.

You do not listen, you do not respond to questions and you do not follow instructions given to you.

You are inept, probably by choice.

Personally I believe that you are a troll.

Jul 16, 2013 6:36 AM in response to Bomiboll

No, you have painstakingly pointed out that you understand nothing of how computers, email and the internet actually work. You have ignored advice that pointed you towards "best practice" solutions and attempted to condescend the people trying to help you.

We are well aware of the limitations of software, particularly when you try to merge the offerings of multiple vendors. We understand that there are compromises to be made and that one application will not suit everyone.

You want things to work how you want them to work, not how the developer wrote them to work. This will, for you, seldom be the same thing.

You are everything that IT Support professionals dread, the embodiment of the age-old support joke. Please go and find the box and leave us to help people who actually want to be helped.

That's it; I'm finished with this.
