Hello guys!

I have not read all the posts carefully, but I see that the problem is not resolved for all. So, here is how I managed to pair:

1. Let's start from scratch, so make sure you have clicked on "Forget All Remotes" in Preferences > Devices on iTunes desktop.

2.Select "Add a Device" from the iPhone (or iPad?) app - let's not bother with Home Sharing.

3. When the 4 digit code comes up, you should be able to click the small iPhone icon - NOT the Remove icon the instructions mention! See the screenshot below:

4. Now you can finally see the Remove Icon Click as seen in the screenshot above. Click it!

5. Now the screen to enter the 4 digit code finally appears:

6. As soon as you enter the code, you are ready.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, what do you mean by 'click "add an iTunes Library"'????????????

The app shows nothing of sorts.

Mine just has 2 options. 'enable home sharing' and 'add device'

Enable home sharing syncs home sharing which I have done.

Add device shows a 4 digit passcode to input on iTunes to sync devices.

Now where do I do what? Why does apple even bother with these features if 1) they can't even explain how to set it up without ******* up big time and 2) When they clearly do not support customers with issues like these.

Thanks to those that actually tried to help with this, in my case it was that the computer and phone were not seeing each other, so the remote button/icon was not showing up. I think it would be useful if the help pages noted that detail a little more in regard to it only 'appearing' when the devices can see each other and you have the remote app open.

As a note, it's surprising to see that the some of the most unhelpful replies here came from people with high levels and lots of points, the only skills they seem to display here are ignorance and arrogance, rather than reading past the obvious inaccuracies in the posts and actually trying to be of some assistance... perhaps that's what the points are for... nice work guys 😐

Woodcider,

thank you for your thoughtful reply. Clearly, unlike diesel vdub, you understand that help may still be given in unlikely places.

Like tc4144, I could not find a remote button. In my case, it never appeared (I repeated the list of instructions you provided, and waited several minutes at the end each time). I hoped to see that remote button as well, because it'd be awful nice to have the ability to remotely control my music playback.

As it was, I had already spent a couple hours fighting with two-factor authentication (which does not work with the Remote app [ Re: Home Sharing - A Story of Struggle ]), and I really didn't have the patience to work on it any longer, so I have given up on the darn thing.

Perhaps another day.

Cheers.
