why does ios 7 support the iphone 4 but not the ipod 4? they were both made pretty much the same time so shouldn't the update together?
seriously makes no sense
iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6.1.3
seriously makes no sense
iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6.1.3
Because the iPhone 4 has 512 MB of menory while the 4G iPod only has 256 MB
It might not make sense to you but I am sure it does to Apple. The iPod has a weaker cpu & gpu so it can't handle the increased workload of iOS 7 hance the reason Apple set it below the cutoff.
Allan
but cant they like compress the data usage
i mean like they're obviously pros at this stuff they should be able to shink the amout of data ios 7 uses
No. You are just going to have to get used to the fact that your iPod 4 will not run iOS & and that is it.
Allan
So you want them to reduce the data?
How is this fair to the folks that own newer devices?
Everyone has to ge ta dumbed down version in order for older devices to run the software? What is the point of that?
Not to mention when people jailbreak their itouch devices it has so much stuff running on it, yet the device works just as fine.
even with all of the garbage and unnecessary stuff.
That is a subject which can get your tread deleted from these forums.
Allan
then do it
Per the iPhone and iPod touch wikis both the 4G iPod touch and iPhone 4 have the same CPU (1 GHz (underclocked to 800 MH) and GPU.(PowerVR SGX535 )

Thanks Illaass.
My trifocal strike out again when reading tables. I have to learn to be more careful when I do that.

I find the progressive bifocals work better than the stepped bi or trifocals
im not saying people need to get a dumbed down version of anything.
im saying if two device were made nearly the same time they should get update at the same time until both devices simply get "tossed asside"
I tried those but found that the width of what I could read was too narrow for me to read computer print outs so I stasyed with the stepped lens.
Now that I am going to need cataract surgery I am not going to change anything until after the surgery.
Allan
You are lucky you did not purchase an iPad 1. The iPad 1 (released April 2010 ) could not even be updated to iOS 6 while the iPhone 3GS (released June 2009) could.
It should be so much better after cataract surgery. Mine were.
