why does ios 7 support the iphone 4 but not the ipod 4? they were both made pretty much the same time so shouldn't the update together?

I recently talked to an apple speacialist and he said that there will most likly not be the iOS7 for the ipod 4th gen but that it is not determined yet. I honestly don't think that it will happen though, because there are roumors that a new ipod is comming out in the fall. Hope this helps 🙂
