Contacts on iTouch missing unexpectedly

Why would the Contacts on iTouch just be gone, just like that? I haven't done anything to erase them or turn them off - I just used Email and Contacts today, and the Contacts are just gone. (iTouch iOS 5.1.1)

I only back up my contacts from my ITouch to my iTunes on my PC. Last back up May 24, 2013, so if the only option is to Manually Restore a backup stored on computer to my iTouch, I will have lost the last 3 weeks of Contact additions on my iTouch.

I also just tried turning on my Contacts from my Yahoo but they do not appear in my iTouch Contacts either - so that makes me think the problem is bigger than just ITocuh Contacts missing.

Any ideas?

Hi Kathi! I think that I only put in first and last name and company (I used OMG, It's and Gone in the three spots). Did you say that your contacts were in a folder before? You can set up the sync to merge contacts from the iPod and your contacts list, so at least you'd get some of them back on the iPod. It's really an annoying issue and given the number of views for this posting, it's clear that lots of others have had similar problems. Good luck!

No - my Contacts were just in the native Contacts app that came with the iPod Touch 3rd Gen. I never had any issues w/Contacts and had heard some horror stories about iCloud so I never activated iCloud or set that up. All was well until I updated some apps (Facebook and a news app if I remember correctly) and next thing I know there are no entries in my Contacts app - it's like I never added any contacts.

Even my own Contacts entry is gone, meaning it isn't in the Contacts app and when I view Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars then scroll down to Contacts, under My Info is shows "None".

What the heck? I just cannot believe there is no way to get my Contacts back in the app. I mean, they HAVE to be on the iPod somewhere. Right??
