How do I enable SNMP on Airport Extreme 802.11ac?
I just replaced an older Airport Extreme 802.1n with an 802.11ac, and I cannot find a way to enable SNMP. I was using this for tracking my WAN traffic with Netuse Traffic Monitor.

Taking away features is upgrading? Apple care to explain?
Unbelievable. A $200 router missing this feature?!
Add me to the list of dissatisfied customers! I just replaced a failing NetGear WNDR3300 running DD-WRT with a 2TB Airport Time Capsule. Before making the purchase, I found Cacti templates for Airport Extreme, but didn't search enough to realize that the latest firmware has neutered the SNMP function.
I am still within the 14-day window and will most likely avail myself of the no-questions-asked return policy. Way to go, Apple!
Hey, so if one wanted to monitor their household's internet activity, how would they do it?
Is to possible to block/eliminate a computer from a network's monitoring system at all? [Like,
the gov't and police monitoring internet activity is fine, but from everyone else...] If so, how would one
do that?

In what world?
Lol! I hear ya! I guess it's not possible/impossible!
Like, just to make it clear, I have NO problem with the gov't & police monitoring internet use - it's their job! Just other people, that's all...
So basically, as long as I'm using someone's server, they have total and complete access to everything that I view... no big deal.... just curious if I was able to view all activity that has been going on in the past week or so on our household's server, that's all. Thanks! 🙂
Like, are you a parent of young children and/or young adults? If so, how do YOU view/monitor your children's/household's activity? How do you control it? Thanks! 🙂
Be in the same room as your kids how about that. Don't rely on a prgram to watch your kids.
there is still the access control to turn off certain mac address at certain times. or the whole network at that time.
I returned the box (lacking SNMP should be imprinted on it) to the Apple Store.
I can only guess why the company removed a simple network management protocol feature and does not want that users monitor and map network availability, performance, and error rates of an Apple Network...
Wow this is truly disappointing.
Just brought my Airport Extreme home and discovered this. Lucky for me it sits behind a Juniper Firewall so I can still monitor traffic from the SRX side, but even the list of attached clients is gone!!!! ***!!!
The boost in performance is welcomed..but I will have to think this through before the return policy is up....
WIll be shopping around on the net tonight...may have to go with another vendor....
I just bought a new Retina MacBook Pro so I'm in the market for an 802.11ac router. Lack of SNMP is a deal-breaker for me so I won't be purchasing an Airport Extreme / Time Capsule, much to my disappointment as I love the ones I already have.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good 802.11ac AP that does support SNMP?
Yes..BUMMER...do NOT buy this for your office or if you have to manage or troubleshoot traffic. Apple is dumming their s h i t down faster than George Lucas can dumb down the Star Wars saga!!!!
It's the Jar Jar Binks of Routers now!!!
Thank you for the alternative that offers MORE for Apple's smarter users!
