Anyone know what the OS X process 'soagent' is?

It seems to be chewing up a fair amount of processor time.
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), 6GB RAM, Time Capsule 500GB
If I can get to it and kill it on monitor when it starts before it uses up all of my memory, fine. Nothing seems to suffer. But it would be good if I could stop it launching itself in the first palce, especially since it doesn't seem to do anything useful. Doesn't anyone know what it's meant to be for, or where it comes from?
Shutting down imessages app seems to delete/vanish
the Soagent process from cpu monitoring.
guess they are connected : )
I shut down my GDrive synch agent and soagent went from 90% cpu to 0%.
