How to setup gmail push notification for my iphone 5?

The best right now is myMail and is free 🙂 push notifications and good UX/UI desing.

I really don't understand all the fuss here - this is a minor inconvenience at most. I'm a freelance journalist with a long-standing Gmail email address, so it's vitally important to my job that I get my email wherever I am and that my iPhone tells me it's arrived. All I did to work around this problem was:

1) Set up Gmail address in iPhone Mail app as normal.

2) Get the Gmail app and set it up so that it gives you push notifications when you get an email.

3) Hide the Gmail app in Utilities folder and never use it.

4) When I get a push notification from Gmail app, go into Mail and manually download my Gmail.

That solution works fine for me. What's everyone else's issue?

Why not just forward your gmail account to your iCloud email address? Then push emails should still come through. Seems like a pretty simple way around this apparently "devastating" issue that you're having.
