Why no Passbook on iPad?
Why isn't there Passbook on iPad, it is a simple app useful on both devices, and bear in mind that not everyone with an iPad has an iPhone.

All anyone here can say is "because Apple didn't include it". None of us here have any insight into Apple'd decisions on such matters. You can comment to Apple on the issue via their feedback page, if you wish:

And bear in mind that lugging around a 9" tablet to a movie theater or whatever kiosk just so that you can print tickets is sort of absurd to some people. Or I should say, it's absurd to me.
I'd have to agree with demo. For most folks, passbook on the iPad really wouldn't be all that useful due to its size and the context in which the app is generally used.
Demo and James are on the right track. I believe I heard one Apple exec say that Passbook is useful on the iPhone because people carry it everywhere. It's not like an iPad that is more cumbersome to carry and show with tickets, coupons, etc.
I beg to difer, iPad is actually quite handy to carry everywhere and iPad mini even more so.
The decision to restrict an iOS feature or app assuming that users will not use it is one that Apple often takes rather lightly and that has repeatedly got them harsh criticism.
Examples of such cases were the first iOS not allowing any apps unless jailbroken, notes and tasks not syncing with OSX, no clock on iPad, no multitasking until iOS3, etc... current issues are the iPhone and iPad not allowing SD cards, so on and so forth.
I happen to have both iPhone and iPad, and take both everywhere as I use them intensely, but like I said in the original post, people I know have iPads but chose to have other phones and it is a shame that a simple feature like Passbook is not available on iPad just because Apple chose not to include it.
I gess the feedback form is where I should have posted anyway.
Thanks anyway

Someone's actually found a use for Passbook?
Apparently Pedro has. And I apologize if I came off the wrong way. It just astounds me when I see people lugging their tablets when they go out to social events. If I go to a movie, I don't want to lug my iPad with me. I don't need it nor do I want to have it with me.
Nothing to be sorry about, it is Apple who consistently fails to attend to customers interest.
True, Passbook is useful for a handfull of sites only, I personally have used it with Booking.com and Easyjet, still I believe there is potential in it, had it been made widely and easily available to customers, and service providers.
As for the above issue, like I said a close friend asked me for help in this, and I had to agree that, once again there is no inteligent reason for why this feature (like others in the past) has been blocked on the iPad, regardless of it being of much or little use. It is a sad thing that after 9 years of using Apple products they still behave in the same autistic way, not paying attention to customer feedback.
Never mind 🙂
Sure, I've added my Starbucks card into passbook. It's a lot faster to access than the Starbucks app when making purchases. I've also used Passbook for movie tickets. It's quite handy.
Never found Passbook to be faster for Starbucks. I'm amused, though, by the fact that it notifies me I'm near a favorite location as I am leaving with my morning latte. And, sadly, none of the movie theatres I frequent accept it yet. Ok concept, just not there yet for me.
I take mine shopping to Target and other places as there are so many money-saving apps out there...it's nice to have the option, I agree. 🙂
The worst thing about Passbook is that not enough vendors use it. I can put my train tickets in Spain on it as we'll as my Walgreens loyality card but why not all the airlines here in the States? More business and service providers need to recognize the usefulness of this ap. And yes I would put on my iPad Mini
I think it would be useful in the event that you buy for example movie tickets using your ipad. They would then download to Passbook on both devices. For those who don't like carring their ipad around, they wouldn't have to.
Want to start a betting pool on whether Passbook makes it into iOS 8?
On some of the PB enables apps they require an internet conncection when transactions are completed. That is going to be tough for WiFi only iPads.

I tried Passbook with some airline tickets recently. I had to add a couple of airline apps first (Delta and United), but after making my reservations and checking in, there is an option to add my Boarding Pass to passbook. After adding it to Passbook, the Boarding Pass is accessible from the lock screen instantly. I found it very easy to keep track of my boarding passes on multi-leg flights this way.
Using the Passbook boarding pass was interesting on my first time. Full disclosure, I kept a paper copy of my boarding pass with me as well, just in case I had problems with TSA security or when boarding. At TSA security, they have scanners that will scan your Passbook boarding pass to verify your identity (along with showing your drivers license or passport, of course). Then at the boarding gate, you scan it again just before you board the plane. It all worked very well, and the personnel were not fazed by the technology.... I guess many people are using paperless boarding passes these days.
