I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?

I FOUND AN EASIER WAY!

I tried what you suggested, and just about everything else, but nothing worked.

What ultimately DID work was resetting my iPhone (Mine is in Danish, but I think this is what the different buttons are called on English phones: Settings > general > reset > reset all settings (NOT the "delete and reset" button)). This resets all your settings, including password and background, but it doesn't delete anything. Your photos, apps, emails, calendar, etc. will still be there.

When I did this and went back to try and delete my old iCloud, "find my phone" was turned off and I could delete it without problem. I then just logged on with my new apple ID and everything seems to work as it should now. I have to set my password and background again, but that's about it.

Hope this works for other people, too!

The creds go to txforever, a fellow user who posted this solution a year ago or so. No idea how txforever figured it out, but it has been the go-to solution for us. Although, recently, many posters have reported that using their current Apple ID password will also now log you out.....

I have an IPad Mini 1st gen A1432 Wifi only...My girlfriend bought it at Fryz in California in Dec 2012...The screen was cracked for a long time so no one used it...and in that time my girlfriend changed her apple id user id to something else and now that the screen is fixed the log in to the apple id kept popping up and wouldn't let us do anything so I tried to restore the Ipad which i regret so much and now Im stuck at the activation page and since she changed the user id of the apple id the user id and password its looking for does not exist...i called apple and we tried everything and at the end they could only tell me that i need the receipt since I live in Mexico now I cant walk into Fryz and ask them it please help me with any sort of suggestion of what I can do

Did your girlfriend simply change the original User ID to the one she has now, or did she set up a brand new Apple ID?

she changed her old email of her apple id to the one she has now but the ipad thinks that the original email still exists since it was never removed from icloud...she did not create a new apple id

Then all you have to do is sign out the old ID using the current ID password.

Hello There fellow sharer in IPAD Icloud troubles 🙂

I too suffered the same condition. Here is what I did and it finally clinked with me. It was simple

Go to settings>click on icloud enter in the password you have for your new Apple ID

once it allows you to enter > go to bottom of icloud and delete the account.

Make certain your icloud account on the web is reflecting the new changes first before you add the

new account Apple ID in the IPAD second. .

It worked for me'
