I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?

I Changed my ISP and therefore changed my email address, which caused me to change my appleID. I had no problems making the changes to my appleID but now I am having problems with iCloud. My old ID is still showing as my iCloud ID and I can not see where or how to change this. I keep getting an annoying pop up box to enter the password for my OLD appleID as well as error messages that I can't back up to iCloud.

CAn someone please tell me how I can fix this so my iCloud works.

THank you!!!!!

I ran into this exact problem after upgrading my iPhone to iOS 7 (whether that caused the whole issue or not, I cannot say), and after finally getting that mess straightened out, today I am having the same headache with my iPad.

However, I have not gone to iOS 7 on this machine yet, and just found that I could change my Apple ID on the iPad by going to 'iCloud' in 'Settings,' and then scrolling down to 'Delete Account' on the bottom right of the screen. Upon clicking that, I got a prompt telling me I'd lose a lot of stuff and then asking me if I wanted to save some of it. I clicked OK, the iPad did some backing up somewhere, and then showed me the refreshed screen with spaces on the top to type my new (correct) ID and its matching password.

Now, iCloud appears to be all updated and working fine on my iPad.

Well it seems i have the same problem - have not upgraded my ipad yet and i have managed to get icloud on my ipad to recognise my new email address - but my iphone is the problem - since upgrading i have not been able to do anything with icloud - it keeps asking for my old password for my old email and i cannot delete account and it will not 'talk' to my ipad

incidently since upgrading it has also lost some contacts - and not allowing me to send photos on whatsapp .... Just things i have discovered so far - NOT IMPRESSED APPLE !

I Am not sure if i should connect to itunes and try to reset - a bit nervous to do anything with it- may have to go into apple shop

I had recently changed both my Apple ID and password for several reasons. iTunes accepted that and even sent me an acknowledgment, but of course, it turns out (as so many of us have learned) that some things on our devices knew nothing about all this. As I mentioned, I had a lot of trouble with iCloud on my iPhone, and that outdated Apple ID and password business.

This is going to sound weird, but I got my iPhone to shape up in iCloud by just letting it present the greyed-out old ID and in the space below, where logic would tell you to type the old password, I typed in my NEW password instead.

To my amazement, it recognized that combination and let me in! Then I just signed out and signed in again with the new ID and pass, and all was well.

Cleaner solution:

- Change Apple ID (from old@me.com to new@me.com)

- Turn offline the device you are having trouble with (later you will understand why)

- Go to www.icloud.com

- Sign in with new@me.com ID

- Go to Find My iPhone

- Select the (offline) device from the "My Devices" drop down menu

- Deactivate Find My iPhone from the device (gray x on the right of the device name on "My Devices" drop down menu)

- Wait for 2 minutes

- Turn online the device

- Go to Settings/iCloud

- Delete account (no request to deactivate Find My iPhone this time!)

- Sign in with new@me.com ID

- Reactivate Find My iPhone

It is crucial to turn offline the device before going to Find My iPhone via www.icloud.com, otherwise the device cannot be removed from Find My iPhone.

Simple and effective.

Cleaner than setting up a new Apple ID with the old@me.com email address (that BTW you will never be able to delete).

Cheers
