Mountain Lion slower than paint drying

Ok. I need help.

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro i7 13" 2.7 currently using 10.8.3

I made the mistake of upgrading to 10.8.4. Took hours to start and had to go into recovery mode. Repaired disk - ok.

Still no go on startup

Restored from time machine back to a couple of days prior on 10.8.3

Great for about 30 minutes the slower than a country train in the artic.

it starts up in just under 15 minutes. while I go and make a coffee laden with caffiene

The biggest problem I am having is that the rainbow ball and I are now no longer speaking to each other.

It has taken over and for a small icon I don't think it deserves world domination.

This is worse than my first Mac a 1994 2vi.

Not to thrilled that my coffee intake has increased dramatically lately. I am now nearly 20 years older and my doctor has warned me about the caffeine.

Please help as this has taken three days off my life. I might as well start smoking again.

Hi savannah,

Despite the unfortunate behaviour of "he who shall not be named", this has been a most entertaining thread! Thanks for making it interesting and fun, and especially - thanks for not whining!!!! I can't tell you how refreshing it is to actually feel like we are interacting with an adult....

Best of luck. We are always here, so post back if you ever need us! (not that I was much help, but you know what I mean by "we".....).

Cheers,

GB

Thanks GB

It was fun and am happy to report Hal has regressed and Daisy is a sweet little Macbook Pro (at the moment)

I have worked on Macs for possibly longer than the ages of some posters here so feel a little "old". However it's nice to get feedback and assistance from a great group of likeminded techies of varying degrees.

You were very helpful and Dave says hello...

Now on the Decaf

I hear ya - I started on my first Mac in 1985....working for an (at that time) cutting edge company that was building and writing software for Z80-based multi-workstation machines for banks. This was all well before the ubiquity of PCs....(I miss the little smiley-faced computer man that was always there on a bootup)....

I'm glad Hal is taking a break and Daisy has returned. Sounds like your Mac is a bit "Sybil-ish". Let's hope it stops with the two of them!!!

Enjoy that Decaf!

Cheers,

GB

Sadly I'm back. Things worked fine for a while but starting up takes about half an hour and I just can't spend the rest of my life waiting for the little ******* to do its thng...

The Hal beachball is back and every piece of software even the finder crashes constantly...Force Quit is not my friend.

My most recent attempt to keep my sanity was to wipe the drive and reinstall Snow Leopard from the original disk. Hal is still not happy.....

This Macbok pro is a MAJOR DISASTER.....Help me Obie One....Help Me!!!!
