Windows 8 and itunes problem (iphone not showing up as a device)

My new PC laptop has Windows 8 and in itunes my iphone doesn't show up as a device when I connect it to the laptop. I've tried all the fixes mentioned.

Hello Avanwhy,

I would be concerned too if iTunes was not recognizing my iPhone. I wasn't sure what steps you have already tried, but I recommend reviewing the steps in this article (you can skip any steps you have already taken):

Wish that link still worked, because I'm having the same issue. My wife's Iphone 5s won't show up on Itunes on her laptop with Win 8. It pops up and asks to trust, then shows as a drive "Internal storage" but the drive shows up empty as if there is nothing on it. Itunes just sits there.

Why should it be this hard to sync something. My 5s works great with Win 7 but I refuse to update my Itunes from 11, or maybe 10 I don't know. If it ain't broke, don't fix it or you end up in situations like this.
